Hey Otsirk, thanks for dropping by and posting.
There's a demo available if you want to give that a try to test out the mechanics.
No, not really. There is some character customization but it's pre-set characters and pre-set skills, you just get to customize your specialization. Level up is done by strengthening the skills you use the most instead of assigning generic experience that you assign to skillpoints.
Hope this is helpful!
Thank you for your curtious and timely reply. It is much appreciated 👍🏻
While I am a bit let down by the news it is not enough for it to be a deal-breaker for me.
Going to go ahead and wishlist. I'll support responsive and polite developers!
God bless and I hope you have a great day!
Thanks so much for your support! We wanted to do a more in-depth character creator but didn't think we had the budget to do it justice. Targeting that sort of thing for our next game.
It's on the side panel. Steam allows you to show it in two places, emphasized where your other purchase buttons are, or de-empasized on the side panel. It's on the right side above the features section that shows controller support, single-player, steam achievements, steam deck compatibility, etc.
According to this GryOnline review (5.5/10) there is no character creation, you can't choose which character you want to play as (game selects that for you) and the game is extremely linear, choices don't matter etc. It's also just 10hrs long. "It's like a book" reviewer said. He also expected new Disco Elysium and got something completely different; very linear game. At least quality of dialogue is good. His words, not mine.
Part of his review:
"
“Explore the open world” – an ugly lie (or misunderstanding of the term). As in Baldur's Gate and other classic RPGs, the world consists of separate locations (only 20 in total), usually of modest size. The largest area of London is just a square surrounded by a few cross streets, adjoined by several shops and other establishments. The rest are often claustrophobic alleys;
"Choose one of three heroes" - there are actually four, but there is no choice; we play them alternately, in a fixed order;
“How will you solve your problems? Fight, persuasion, magic, or maybe an explosion? All cards are on the table and the choice is yours” – correction: the choice is up to the game developers. Situations where you can show something resembling creativity and show your own path to your goal can probably be counted on the fingers of one hand.
"
So it's nothing like Arcanum [very good RPG btw.].

He's entitled to his opinion but I don't think his review is a very fair assessment of our game.
This isn't a negative thing, it's actually a positive thing. The writing is excellent.
