Horizontal roots

hello, i wonder how i could cut the horizontal roots, i can cut the vertical ones with the great slash by holding attack button but i cant figure how to cut the horizontal trees. I have all Main spells and i want to complete the game at 100% so i dont want to go at the surface right now in case i could not come back. Could you help me please ?

It is an ability yet to be found not on the surface, so don't worry. About the surface : you can come back.

Ok thank you, i finally found the way to cut it.
If someone wants to know, SPOILER: You have to use the great slash while spinning

That makes sense, but the button combo for that is really odd to me. How do you actually do it?

I was approaching the root from the bottom. You get an ability and you can destroy the root from the above.

Press and hold the attack button until the slash is ready. Do a spin attack (you can do one without jumping if you choose that settings) - still holding attack, and while spinning release the attack button.
