getting tracked by AI from miles away is not fun
getting constant issue of getting tracked from miles away. Doesn't matter if my tank is taller or smaller. The added armor also doesn't help.
This makes most of the scenarios suck really bad

I too have noted that it is really annoying that the track protections don't seem to do squat. It would be nice if we could at least fix the tracks using the track pieces we can place on the tank.

i have the same issue. is there ANY way to work this problem?

More tanks, tbh. Thicker tracks & road wheels do help a little but you'll still lose tracks a lot. I do the same thing to the AI, mind.

Repairing tracks in combat is horribly unrealistic unless it's a very simple thing like a pin ( as a thought experiment, imagine changing a car wheel in combat and then imagine trying to do it with a really heavy tank track instead ), and even that would be a nightmare. Getting a shot through a road wheel pops the track off the tank which is not really something that should happen instantly though.

I read about crews trying to repair their Tanks during the early war period , but we are talking about much lighter tanks in the case of Panzer II and Panzer III tanks in Poland .
With Total undisputed Battle field control.
By Mid War the Germans became very good at recovering their Tanks mainly at night in the Desert campaign at until they were on the back-foot .
I doubt any crew would attempt to repair any of the later Mediums and Heavy tanks .
just simply abandoning them for an hopeful recovery .

I have won Battles in the game after been tracked if your tanks is well armored and you have a gun line of sight over the battle area .
the most common map for been Track is Fields because they have an height advantage to start with . I also tend to build lower profile tanks with well sloped armor .
this can prove a problem seeing over some of the hills on this map.

But Tracking happens to quickly regardless of track thickness.

It seems making roadwheels smaller helps reduce the chance of them getting hit and you getting tracked but still far from a ideal solution

Not just from miles away, but also from behind the hills (you dont even see them, yet they shoot over the hills and even hit you) and will great accuracy on the move (I can expect this from heavy tanks who moves slow or if game had stabilizators, but it literally everyone)

To be fair, a lighter and well balanced gun with a powerful elevation motor can closely mimic a stabilizer. Less so on bigger guns however.

As for the track problem, I’d like to see them get a bit more durable, but battlefield repairs probably shouldn’t be implemented. (Also, on most of my designs, I can still usually get some movement in either a straight line or slightly turning if one track survives. Not ideal, but until both tracks get shot off I can usually limp around a bit…)

Tonight with 2 tanks of 47t yet fast 50 km / h, even in motion shooting and zigzagging on Fields map, impossible not to be tracked so that after the 10th try, I crushed the ESC key , quit to desktop. I think we have to reduce the hit box strictly to tracks otherwise we will continue to be tracked at 1km.
This remains the biggest flaw of the latewar senarios, as long as the firepower can be one shot tracks.

I think also think that you get tracked too easily. But I'd only change the value of the shells damage needed to track a tank. But I really don't mind if it doesn't get changed because my tanks are usually well enough armored to kill the enemy tanks even though it is tracked.

The problem is when there is an enemy tank alive and it gets stuck somewhere on the map.

Or the mission requires you to get to a location. Like when you need to cross the boarder for instance. God what a nightmare that was. Living wasn't hard. Managing to not get tracked so I could actually get to the other side was an absurd challenge. The irony is that my big fat slow tank with massive treads was the one I managed to get across with. All my fast tanks would get the track removed on the 2-4th shot no matter what I did. Like dealing with aim-bot players. Except they're AI so of course they use Aim-bot but you know what I mean.

I just build a giant super thick armour mobile bunker, they shot my tracks off pretty quickly but I just sat their and absorbed all their shots until I killed them all.

I just played through all the scenarios. For most of them I did a low, long and wide pancake TD with super low tracks to be smaller targets. Also used hills (doesn't take much of a rise when you're that flat.) Pop up enough to shoot, then back down to reload.

I would love some armored skirts though!
