AT guns are driving me mad in cross the border
They see me coming from far far away, yet I only see them when they shoot. (they were actually invisible in the first map, but whatever)
Also, these are some damn potent cannons that penetrate 90mm of heavily sloped armour. 50% of their hits penetrate, and I don't even have the option to see where!

Besides that, where's the fun in a mpa where you can only drive straight?

build something with a good, accurate gun, a fast turret for reactivity, and light enough to enable several AI vehicles.
then start the map for the first time. if you ever want to retry, first go back to the menu.

reason being that on only the first try, ally AI lasers on AT guns through the dark. however once you retry they become blind. that said i have not played this mission in a while, this could have changed.

Oh ♥♥♥♥, I obviously noticed the AI behaviour and was going to mention it as well, but forgot.

About the being light enough part, I have been penetrated in the front at pretty much the beginning of the dirt bank on many occasions, I can just not envision surviving long enough with even less armour, even with 1 more tank.

main idea with survivability here is to be more reactive than the hostile ai.
AT guns take a little while to rotate on their target and there are a grand total of like, four, half of which being harmless as the farmhouses they hide behind cut them a lot of coverage. the two shooting from the forest on the other side are the real deal.

armor in this game is a safenet more than a reliable bet on anything but super heavy builds. weakspots get hit very often, so even decent stuff is inconsistent. meanwhile the level just gets trivial when the friendly ai has enough resources to do the work for you.

Ok but for real, don't drive straight i know the AI On the map can be lazer accurate like the other maps BUT you can try to strategize bye using the natural cover and buildings to hide yourself.

The best amount of tanks would be 3 or 4. 130MM and above armor if not angled should be good enough to take hits but not be invincible, To make sure you get more armor then you already have, level the camera to the tanks level and turn on the tanks armor viewer then increase side and front armor bit bye bit until from the 30 or 45 degree angle the camera is facing the corner of the tank, You should have RED armor for the hull and make it invincible a angled tiger 1.

Also make sure your tanks are small but not to small. But small enough to conceal. You don't need much of a gun but you do have to deal with 1 tank at the end of the scenario, For that i would recommend 130MM or 100MM of pen on the gun.

after the patch it got harder, used a well angled 50-60mm on frontal main armor (hull/turret) - big engine, over 7,50m long, very slow and 40tons. before the patch you could rely on your AI Buddys, now the always end up in crater and i prefer one big tank. With this tank, a rather boring one i have to admit, it was a easy win.

Lol I hate how my allies get stuck. Waste of resources! Lately I've been screwing around with mammoth builds. Though I did hit a mine crossing the field!

The enemy (and ally) AI needs a LOT of work. It's been mentioned in multiple threads. Honestly I don't see this getting worked on much until the actual mechanics get smoothed out. Progress is getting made in that department but with some 'fixes' other things tend to break.
Issues with the AI include (just to name a few):
• The AI can 'see' too far (you can't see a target in your sight as maximum magnification but damn if the AI can't hit you dead on from miles away while you're in a fog/dust bank).
• The AI can't steer your (ally) vehicles worth a damn but the scenario enemy ones drive like a race car.
• The guns are hyper accurate and can hit you on a tangential move at 35 mph... no problem for the AI gunners when this was a big problem for WWII optical systems.

Few things are more frustrating than moving out at 30+mph and getting sniped by the AI from 1600+ meters away...While they are moving...

There wasn't a tank in the world during WWII that could do that and it frustrates the heck out of me when it happens.

I don't even bother with this mission anymore. Either the AI guns get you or your teammates get stuck on the raised part of the map and clog up the route.
