Stabilized cannons?
I know that the main cannons are semi-stabilized for game play, but with the last update, my guns have felt like they are taken straight from a modern day tank, being fully stabilized when going over rough terrain at 30-40kmh, is this just my suspension doing a good job or actual cannon stabilization?

No, you have the issue nailed down.
The gun aiming logic and AI logic really needs a lot of re-work. There is a reason why you can't command, drive, load and fire a tank all by one person (you the player). It would be better if you jumped from position to position and let the other crew members do thier thing, *OR* if you just went full arcade mode (WoT or WarThunder) and made the tanks far more generic to design (like drag and drop modules based on real tank designs).
To make somewhat detailed designed tanks then turn them into arcade machine fodder seems really out of joint for me. You put all that time into designing a great tank and it gets toasted by AI's that can ping your tank at obscene ranges while on the move.
This is the weakest area of the game right now as far as I can tell.

The game seems to have a tendency to stabilize the gun for the players, especially when you reach the maximum 30°/sec elevation rate for the gun.
Most of the surfaces appear to be not very rough, a limitation of the maps, your gun just does not get thrown about enough to be unstable.

there is for sure something a bit off with the aiming but it also weels like the ground surfaces are very smooth, so not much chances to throw your aim off course and also with mouse aim logic it's very easy to make a pseudo stabilisation system by just reaching a certain vertical speed, IRL many tanks had quite slow vertical drives (in the 3.5-4°/s range) very often being manual cranks
