Doors closing automatically is bad for this game
Hi Devs / Fans,

Just my thoughts here. Doors close automatically by themselves and in a very short time.

Why is this bad?

- very limited ammo supply at the beginning (as a detective you arrive with 9 ammo?) so you need to use the knife and kite the ghouls. This is sometimes made impossible because the doors close behind you and you cannot move freely. And since one bite is enough to turn them into vampires you are instantly dead...just one bite.

- secondly it does not make sense at all because you are in an old mansion, not in an autmated facility, why would doors close by themselves?

- and finally it also hurts gameplay because open doors help a player to know if an area has been explored or not.

Please consider disabling this "feature".

I also have an alternative. You can drag corposes. So if you insist on auto-closing doors why not give us the ability to pull a corpse and block the door from closing?

Any thoughts?

On the other hand it does stop the enemies following you through doors.

But the problem is they seem to stay right on the other side of the door after this.

not a bad idea.

Not sure if my post was deleted but you have a point.

However it also makes it hard to get away from ghouls when you start with 9 ammo and you need to use the knife.

Zombies after locking a door glitch out. They remain at the back side of an open door so you either go in and die (if the room is small enough) or they start twitching into the door.

Really, no reason to auto-close doors in this game.

This is required to optimize the game. After closing the door, the room is shipped and the memory of the game is released, otherwise such a large hotel would have to be divided into loading screens, I think this is outdated, and chose the option with automatic closing of doors, as in the remake of re 2.

Yep, I experienced this first hand. I opened 2 doors that were very close to each other (the shower room doors in the hotel where you need the rope to descend) and I went into one of the rooms and fell through the floor out of the map bounds. Had to reload. I knew at this moment that there was a reason the doors close automatically.

I get it, no more Resident Evil 1 rooms. But isn't there a compromise? The system loads only the two roooms you are currently engaged in? Not loading the whole map?

And zombies still glitch out if you close a door on them.

Unfortunately, there is no compromise in my case, since I myself do not like closing doors, and if there was one, I would definitely use it.

The closing doors aren't great, but perhaps there is some way to work around this while keeping the doors self-closing.

Here's a suggestion: In RE2, doors closing isn't a big deal even thought they all do it. This is because they usually don't get in the way, even though they close. Doors open by just walking up to them and generally open in both directions. This makes it so you are less likely to get stuck.

Love the idea. I love anything that glitches out ghouls near doors making it impossible for you to enter or for them to leave. That is why I was even open to the idea to bring some items (or corpse) to support the doors from closing.

Most old solid wood doors in older times weren't made to stay open all the time like we have now so the close state is their normal resting position. They tended to swing shut because that's a combination of their weight and how they where designed work at the time. You could add a note to a one of the main hall door explain to customers watch out for hotels older doors which tend to slam shut more than the newer wooden doors they may be use to.

How about keeping the doors open, but have the inside cell load out at a set distance from the player so you can't see it load in or out. That way the doors we open can stay open, and performance won't be hit as hard.
