Game save file lost
Hey guys,

I couldn't believe this happened to me but when I tried continuing with my game today I realised my save was just… gone. I checked the local save path and found that slot0.save (which supposedly contains all save data) is now 0 bytes. I tried multiple recovery methods, but nothing worked :(

I’m completely crushed right now. I’m 35 hours in and almost at 100% completion. I cleared the Crucible and got Flowing Steps (if you know, you know how painful that was), collected all Old Cores, bought out the entire store including that 10k mod from the robot, and almost fully cleared the map. I stopped playing last night right before fighting Sol & Vin. Dwelling was the final area left before the final boss and secret ending.

If anyone here has experienced this before and somehow managed to fix it, I’d really appreciate you sharing how. At this point I’m feeling pretty hopeless, because I honestly don’t think I can bring myself to start from scratch and go through all of that again.

I’m going to try reaching out to Steam support, but if that doesn’t go anywhere… would anyone at a similar point in the game be willing to share their save file with me? I’m genuinely at my wits’ end and would be incredibly grateful.

Hi, the saves shouldn't be a .zip file, can you maybe send me a screenshot of the save folder ?

Oooo wow, thank you. I didn’t know this was an option. I tried downloading the save from the cloud and placing it in my local save folder, but now the game just says the save file isn’t compatible with this game version

sorry my bad! I didn't make my windows to show file extension earlier but it's showing file type as zip so I assumed it was a zip file. it's actually slot_0.save

in the folder (C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\MIO\Saves\Steam\76561199019536815) there're 2 files, one is slot_0.save, the other one is steam_autocloud.vdf
