What was that motive???
Seriously, you're telling me the whole plot was building to "Angry human vs ai?" Did they not have any other plot ideas?

More it was content creator vs generative ai. Which is honestly not a bad idea and quite fitting for the times.

Chaos just didn't want to / couldn't believe that the gb4 devs had created a true AI.

Chaos did nothing wrong. Screw AI. .

Not only that but the writer forgot that at this time in the Gundam Breaker universe there are mobile suits, space colonies and actual fully functional AI. Reco herself is one.

The "human vs AI" theme is such a 2023 topic for a universe that is half a century beyond it.

Considering Bamco just got slammed, hard, for snubbing their voice actors in their Naruto game by using AI voices, this really does feel like Bamco just throwing a fit that people got mad at them for using AI.

it pretty much screams for itself when the script was actually penned.

Also still the same universe that has Sara and Eve and May and Robota and Info AND Reco (which is in the very same game), so while I do get Chaos' issue and real life qualms with generative AI, he also both approach things in the wrong direction and for the lack of better words did the same thing what AI did to him RL; which win almost nobody's favor in-game (for MC's faction anyway)

Gonna be one of those "WELL ACKSHUALLY" nerds here, but the ending of the Gundam Breaker 3 DLC takes place 30 years into the future, whereas the time difference between GB3 and GB4 is directly stated to be 6 years within GB4.

Consumer model Mobile Suits and space colonies shouldn't yet be a thing in GB4, but there is still definitely a case to be made about the AI angle considering, well... Robota, Info-chan, and, IIRC, the AI running the space station.

hm...

dont tell me you play this game for the plot, cos... i'm gonna laugh if you do.

But the thing is, even LITERALLY BUILD DIVERS executed the "Is an AI worth it even if it threatens the game?"

While I didn't pick the series up for the plots, each game's writing has been much better than one would expect all things considered. Certainly not revolutionary or groundbreaking by any means, but fun and well-written for what they are.

You're telling me I finally get a game where I can get my own mobile suit... And I don't get a compelling story to have it in??? That I couldn't even get something close to a Build series level story? Laugh all you want, it's still disappointing about how meh the story was compared to what it could have been.

Except, he flip-flops in the middle of the fight and says "AI can be used as tools."

In Japanese he was pretty consistent throughout saying that AI is nothing more than a tool, so if the writing is bad, blame the foreignizers.

the epilogue of GB3 was after 30 years+

GB4 is 6 years after gb3.

Build Fighters is really good. But, then most the series in that same vein aren't. This is probably second or third best in terms of the Gundams a toy type stories. It does have a similar central conflict to Build Divers yes. But, Build Divers devolves is to absolute nonsense.

The idea that a former devs could use a back door to then take over the system is way more plausible than what happens in Build Drivers. Sarah's existence is bought about by the feelings people had for their Gunpla. This is not how coding works. Her existence starts to cause bugs which threatens to destroy the game. More believable. But, then the developers hold match to decide what to do about her. Which such an idiotic idea. I'll quote Rurouni Kenshin here. A fight just proves who's the strongest is a fight. Not who's right.

This was a pretty clear case of this a Gundam battle show. So we're going to have a Gundam battle regardless of if that makes sense or not. Where again. Chaos as former developer who wants to craft and an experience that's meant to be played to prove his point. Is at least consistent with who he is.

For the record. I do like Build Drivers. I think the charm of the characters does over come the nonsense plot. But, a nonsense plot it is.
