As you progress the story, you can buy kits in the shop. They are Level 1 and Rarity 1 parts.

When you finish Chapter 2 you get Synthesis. Allowing you to merge parts, increasing Part Level and Ability Levels, also choosing the parts abilities.

Chapter 4 starts giving you Evolve Plastics, they allow you to increase the Rarity of your parts, opening more ability slots on the part.

MG parts follow the same shop rules as HG parts: once you've dropped a part, the kit will be available in the shop. The fastest way to get a good part is to buy the kit, then farm survival for plastics to boost the level and rarity.

If it's anything like GB3, MG parts will be a thing after the first clear of the game.
