nah the pre-order bonus as far as i can tell just unlocks parts you'll unlock anyways... but earlier... the issue however is they're useless until you can synthesize and even then... i still don't know how to improve their rarity beyond farming to open more boxes of them

No its not. I'd even go and say buy just the base game, unless you care about the season pass.

There's a synthesis material that improves rarity. Every part is potentially viable if you don't mind spending the resources on them.
