Issue with Gender
Why in a game all about customization and making whatever you want with gunpla and dioramas, does your main character have to be a guy? For some reason they didn’t either let you change your gender or even just keep it ambiguous for you. Like with how many female characters there are it is so strange they just assumed you are a guy.
At first I thought it would be nothing just some that would come up very occasionally but no it is like almost every mission so far. There were even lines where they seem to specifically call it out. It just feels so odd to have a game where your avatar is a gundam and you can make whatever you want as long as you, the character, are a dude.

I mean you kinda said it yourself, the main character of the story is a dude. It's not (You), it's just the main dude of story mode.
I think I've heard them refer to you as 彼 all of once so far, and I'm in Chapter 4. Are you playing it in a foreign language or something?
i enjoy the game but i agree with you.
would've been nice to be able to pick a character or make your own.

But this isn’t like Witcher or tomb raider where you’re playing as a specific person in this world. You are an ambiguous player of a video game. There is no backstory for your character. There is nothing of note of them prior to the day the story started.
In the game you name your character you customize what avatar you have and everything about your gundam, but for some reason, you have to be a guy. Like it’s odd for a game to have such customization and not let being a girl be a possibility

It isn’t like a dealbreaker for the game and im having a blast with it but its just such an odd choice I noticed.

I’m in America and am playing in English so it may just be a localization thing.

There's part of your problem, English doesn't have a unisex third-person singular pronoun usage that sounds natural in native speech for most circumstances. Either way, should always be playing games in the native language anyhow, playing "localizations" is the equivalent of having someone else read a book while holding it out of your reach so you can't see it yourself.

As a trans chick, I don't give a F because the story is garbage anyways. I'm not here for that noise I'm here to DIY my mech and beat some plastic. That's what this game is made for and it does it quite well.

the 'choice' wasn't to force you to play a man.
the 'choice' was to spend all of their dev time on making the game fun and not wasting it making a character customization system (alongside dialogue adaptations) that only the most deranged people would even care about.

Gundam Breaker 2 and 3 (didn't play 1) had avatars for both genders. That was possible because there have been female MS pilots in every show since the original UC79 show. Really not that big of an ask to have gender options in a gundam game.

All that being said, Aero check under Sound options and there's a setting to change the "voice type" for radio callouts. I know Tao refers to you as a guy in dialogue but Tao also expresses shock that a girl plays video games when meeting Lin so just pretend in your head that he's an idiot and assumed every anon is always a guy and girls don't play gundam.

Sadly I'm not bilingual so I can't exactly play it in Japanese. There are ways to do unisex third person pronouns or just other ways to refer to people without gender, they just didn't do that.

That is actually all good to know. Thank you.

If video games are a big part of your life you're going to have to learn eventually, might as well start sooner rather than later!

For instance? Genuinely curious, I teach English to non-native speakers as my day job, so if something like that has come into common use that would be good to know.

Worth noting, there are female pilot icons for use on your player profile, and as stated above, the JP dialogue doesn't generally use gendered pronouns when referring to the player character. Also, in the Options, you can find a toggle that makes your character's radio chat voice either male or female, so it's clear you were meant to be able to be either or. Any use of "he", "his", or "him" are just localization goofs that were overlooked.
