Regarding Ground Break... Which weapons can or cannot?

Hi, I'm a bit lost, so I thought I’d ask for help.

I'm trying to figure out which melee weapons can or can’t perform a 'Ground Break' (the big hit on fallen enemies who have lost their leg parts). Unfortunately, there’s no in-game indication, and while it seems tied to certain weapon categories, there are exceptions.

So far, by equipping only the right-hand melee weapon (if it’s not two-handed) and testing each, here’s what I’ve found:

In general, the weapons that can Ground Break are:
- Melee (with the exception of Claws)
- Saber
- Twinblade (multi-hit Ground Break)
- Axe (except Halberd which have some Greatsword moveset, could be the reason)

And usually, Whip, Greatsword, and Lance can't do Ground Break, but interestingly, the Gusion Hammer (classified as a Greatsword) can!
Update: Thanks to jerrypocalypse:, Sword Mace can also Ground Break.

I'm willing to bet it's just bugged since when dual wielding you can ground break with either button (square and triangle on PS5, for example), but when wielding a 2-handed weapon like melee, you can only ground break with triangle, even though the weapon is marked as equipped to both slots and uses both buttons to attack.

I find it weirdly inconvenient too. Some exception like Claw also seems like overlooked bug since there's no reason to limit just one type of melee category...

I was able to ground break with sword mace when I used it

Thanks! Disappointingly, it looks like a Sword Mace, but it can't perform a Ground Break.

Yeah, it has a slightly different moveset than the sword mace
