DELTARUNE

The Roaring Knight [SPOILERS]
I do NOT want to spend 14 hours on this boss what's everyone's strategy? I'm getting better with the circle sword attack, but the attack after that I immediately die, it does like quad the damage as the original attack. I have the shadow mantle as well.

General tips:
  • If you're watching a cutscene between every attempt, make sure you proceed to chapter 4, then come back to get fast retry's.
  • Go back to the green room and make sure you have an acid axe on Susie from a vending machine (if you don't have the JevilsTail), and that you've drained the gacha machine in the B rank room of gold prizes. You can get TensionMax's, revive mints and other goodies, letting you use rude buster turn 1, and keep everybody up longer.
  • Kris and Ralsei do basically no damage here (unless Kris is the only one up). You want them defending to generate TP if they're not spamming healing items to keep everybody alive.
  • Make sure you ACT and hold your breath at some point in the fight before that attack, it'll speed up the heart, making dodging way easier.
  • The move after the circular sword tunnel I'd call the hardest in the fight. If you can, defend with everybody before it starts, and only make lateral movements to dodge. Watch some videos of the fight to help learn the timing as you pretty much have to move right before the swords hit you to properly avoid them, and move as little as possible the rest of the time so you don't hit the walls or be caught going in the wrong direction.
Have ReviveMints as much as possible
Deal any amount of damage every turn by any (or every) char if possible (therefore, pick the strongest weapon)
Farm as much TP as possible to cast Rude Buster (quite easy to farm during star attack)
HoldBreath (speeds up the soul) works the whole fight, so use it only once
Don't waste TP on HealPray
Use defend on Kris if it will gain enough TP for Rude Buster
If Knight used cutting screen attack (I called it like this) out of order - you reached his last special attack

As for attacks, just practice, but I recommned you to use gamepad if possible (I used DS3).
mantle to susie, tab A before rude buster hits the knight, pray.
Clean out all the gold prizes from the gumball machine.

Use Hold Breath, once.

ONLY spend TP on Rude Buster and do it EVERY turn.

Rude Buster gets a damage boost if you press the button again at the right time.

Attack with Kris only if you already have max TP - but if you do have max TP, something's gone horribly, terribly wrong.

Kris doesn't need ReviveMint, Ralsei does.

If Susie ever falls down, you are losing attack turns and potentially making the fight take longer. Do not let this happen.

The six way spinner is beaten by making them lock on to you in a corner (or at the very least, an edge) to give you the most room for manoeuvre.

Screen break is simple in theory, pain in the ass in execution. Wait for the quick bullets to pass, then thread the needle.

Diagonal screen break is just plain BS though. Cross your fingers.

The individual blades that turn red before flying at you require you to move only as much as necessary. Don't run into walls and definitely don't run into the circle of blades in the second version of this attack.

Second sword corridor is just doing circles in the middle of the screen.

Don't greed the stars attack. Definitely don't try to greed the one where the explosions turn into daggers. You'll be grazing off that quite enough just trying to stay safe.

(Edit: Let's break that up a little for readability, shall we?)
i can give you the setup i used to beat him. First i put the mantle on susie and had her use the devilsknife so rude buster costs less, then i stocked up on deluxe dinners (i didnt have any revivemints) and used ralsie as fodder and for the strat just use what everyone else is saying
don't know if you're already doing this, but the sword attack is best dodged by making small, subtle movements rather than continuous movement. during the circle sword variant you should be moving when the circle moves and otherwise maintain small, deliberate movements. considering all of the swords can be dodged by either moving up/down or side to side, you should also avoid unnecessary diagonal movement since it doesn't help you and afaik the circle itself never moves diagonally.

I'm on a pacifist run so devils knife is not an option, I have Susie with the jevilstail and shadow mantle, ralsei has the dealmaker and blue ribbon, kris has a lodestone and some other ribbon. (Susie also has the toxic axe). I don't have many revive mints either and I just stocked up on deluxe dinners.

Jevilsknife is not mandatory, This fight is like the only niche I can think for it imo and even then it's not that much of an advantage. Your setup should be fine, just spam defend on Kris and Ralse and Rude Buster to victory.
I didn't even need a guide, I did it in around...5 attempts maybe? 6?

Through trial and error I realized the best strategy, aside from having the shadow mantle and as much defense as possible, is to use Kris and Ralsei to either defend or use healing items, and then just spam Rude Buster with Susie whenever possible.

The rest is just memorizing patterns.
Dodging:

1. Stars Attack: Hitbox is smaller than it looks so don't be afraid

2. Sword Corridor: Focus on the right side of your screen. Move with quick taps

3. Screen Break: Your only problem is the red line. Pay attention to prepare

4. Sword Corridor 2: Has a set pattern

5. Red Blade + Wall: You can dodge diagonal blades with straight directions. Move sparingly

6. Spinning Slash: Lure the attack to the edges. Move to the opposite direction while it winds up. By the time you can read the attack, you already have plenty of room to dodge

7. Diagonal Screen Break: Not sure but I think you are less likely to get hit if you move away from the corners

8. Red Blade, No Wall: Imo harder than with walls. Do not change directions for as long as you can so you are less likely to change when a blade has already launched (you will 100% get hit if so, and likely panic)

9. Final Attack/s: Heal all three to full. Stay reasonably close to her(?) til the third. Dodging forward also helps.

Other:

1. Susie must use Rude Buster every turn if possible. Prioritize using items on Ralsei's turn so Kris can defend. You can make Kris attack if TP is full but idk if that matters

2. Heal Prayer when u have full / almost full TP is fine. U get tons of it anyway (but maybe that's bc I have DevilKnf, TP+ Armor, and TwinRib)

3. I didn't like the "Revive Kris with HP" advice since Kris usually goes down again next turn (assuming this happens when you're almost there). Don't be scared to use ReviveMint, but save one if you can for Ralsei (Final Attack).

Also, since we're giving prio to Susie, she most likely won't ever go down

4. On the later parts of the fight, it's worth using heals even if HP is not too low since you can die at anytime

5. Bouncy Blade better cuz only Susie attacks

6. Didn't play the gacha and have optimal items. Fight is still winnable
just spam rudebuster lol, if youre on a pacifist save file its obv harder to beat it without the mantle but on any weird route or kill save file you should be absolutely beating the knight with no difficulties

if you want actual advice I just recommend putting all defense equipment on susie and ralsei since kris is both not targetted by single target attacks, but also does the least amount of damage since he holds back during this fight UNLESS he is the last one remaining.

You can get the mantle on a pacifist file
