Transfer save data from demo?

Is there any way to carry over my save file from the demo to the full game?

It carried over automatically for me.

It didn’t carry over for me but you can probably just play through it as a refresher like me, or drag n drop your save file from the demo into the steam save folder

If you're in Linux running the game through Proton, it's because the demo and game have different IDs, so they save under different folders.

Browse Steam's root folder, access "steamapps", then "compatdata", look for a folder named "1690940". Then "pfx" -> "drive_c" -> "users" -> "steamuser" -> "AppData", and copy the "DELTARUNE" folder.
Then go back to the "compatdata" folder, look for "1671210", then follow the same architecture as above and paste it under the AppData folder.

Does it matter if I'm on a different machine? I played chapters 1 and 2 on my old computer and I saved my files on a USB stick when I got rid of it. The game detects I played 1 and 2 but when I launch ch3 and try to load from ch2 files it says the completion file is missing. I am also on linux btw.

the only thing i want from my old save are the items i had, when starting over on ch3 we get random equipment and 0 money :c

I tried copy-pasting data.win from the DELTARUNEdemo folder... didn't do anything. Did I copy-paste the wrong file or something?

OH I just opened up the demo version; I don't have my files there either... I wonder if they're on my old laptop...

On Windows, save files are found in the appdata folder: C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\DELTARUNE
(or type %appdata% into a folder path and go UP one level to find the Local folder)

Save files for the demo are not saved in the cloud, they are saved locally. For example, in my case I needed to go get the save files from my old computer to my new computer. The demo uses the same save location as the full game.

where do you have to paste the old deltarune folder in order to have it transfer to the full game?

You don't past the whole folder over; you just put all the "filech_" files in the \AppData\Local\DELTARUNE folder

yeahh when I open up the deltarune demo there's a clear save file for the ending of chapter 2 there, but when I played the full game it didn't seem to find my saves even though they're on the same pc. maybe its cause I played from the beginning when I got the full game cause I assumed my saves were all wiped (no message to continue from last save). I really dont know why the full game isn't reading any of my files even though they're on the same computer. thanks though ^

omg THANK YOU, this fixed the problem for me!!

I too was having the issue with having backed up my data from the demo version for Chapters 1-2, only for nothing to transfer to the full version of the game. thankfully I still had the local save files stored on my old laptop (where I finished Chapters 1 and 2), so I was able to copy + paste that appdata into the full game's appdata.

I now see the popup that "Chapter 2 was completed" and I can continue on to Chapter 3. thanks so much!!
