Berdly looses arm on neutral run despite sparing him in all encounters

Hello, I've been doing a neutral run fighting everything except regular Spamton and Berdly. I played through the weird route until meeting him with Noelle the second time with only the freeze ring equipped. Aborted the weird route by choosing "I'm protecting her from you!". Fought of the Werewires but spared Berdly there as well as on the rollercoaster and during the Queen fight. During the latter I thought he lost his arm because I've been attacking the shield but toasting doesn't change the outcome either. Berdly always looses his arm.
Could someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
TLDR: Berdly always breaks his arm in an aborted weird route despite always sparing him in all encounters.

Edit: Alright, I found out by myself. Not only do you have to spare Berdly in all of his fights but you also have to spare/pacify the Werewires supporting him in his second fight.
