I know this post isnt asking this specifically, BUT what if ships have some game play effect? Not that I think Toby is gonna be reading these and changing the story in anyway... I hope... but that what we are lead to believe are the most obvious ships (noelle x susie, kris x ralsei) aren't what Kris wants? There is some indication that Kris has a crush on Susie... and considering the most popular ship (and the most canonical one) is Noelle and Susie... they aren't gonna have a good time if the story (or us) puts them together (which is kinda sad cause I mean I don't see how Kris would end up with Susie cause Susie and Noelle are suuupppperrrr crushing on each other)

I think Susie and Lancer make a cute ship. She cares so much for Lancer that she was seriously determined not to hurt his father without being encouraged by Kris or Ralsei.
