So, my "in-the-know" friend pushed Deltarune on me because, you guessed it, "it's free." Well, free or not, let's face it – Deltarune feels like a relic from the era of dial-up.

Deltarune's visual style takes a nostalgic trip, but let's be real – it's more dusty attic than retro charm. It's a forgotten sketch in a notebook, overshadowed by the visually striking landscapes of contemporary gaming. Games that also free like Genshin Impact blow this game out of the water in the graphics department.

Deltarune's soundtrack is the monotonous hum in the background. Elevator music has more personality. It lacks the soul-stirring melodies that elevate gaming experiences to memorable heights.

Deltarune's challenge level is a mere blip on the radar. It's a leisurely stroll when you expected a pulse-pounding sprint. The question lingers: did you accidentally stumble into "easy mode"?

Deltarune's narrative is a forgettable tale, akin to scanning a restaurant menu when you have no appetite. The substance seems elusive, leaving you pondering its significance. Not only that, but the characters are extremely one dimensional and boring. A hugeee lack of character design and charm. It’s an RPG, these are some of the most important things!

RPGs are supposed to have strong elements in these departments. Just because the game is free gives it no excuse from these criticisms.

I mean, things like music and visuals are completely and utterly subjective. The visuals are definitely a step up from Undertale, though. Seriously, look at Frisk's sprite in comparison to literally any of Deltarune's characters. The Deltarune OST is super popular though, with many tracks having several million fews, so clearly most people liked it. The narrative part is also just...mostly subjective. I definitely would argue the whole thing with Kris and the player is very well-done and well-written if nothing else.

Alright, I will take point by point. Graphics are not even an important pillar in gaming. Sure it is important but it would probably be least important. Minecraft is very popular still, games with less graphics are still quite loved and Borderlands which is also a loved game. It is about the artstyle. Every game does not need amazing graphic, people might love this artstyle and that is completely alright. Gameplay is king.

Soundtrack and music, even visuals are subjective. This game will not be free later, this is a demo. Not a free game. This might not be a game for you, but I can understand why people like this game. I like this game because of the story and the gameplay, music is a plus and I don't mind the artstyle or graphic. For me, 1. Gameplay. 2. Story. 3. Artstyle 4. Music. 5. Graphic.

There is challenge to be found in secret bosses. They have a hardmode on and quite hard. The rest is relative easy yes but there are harder things to deal with. This is a good game for a lot of people, and it a bad game for you but that is okay. People will love and buy this game and it will be fine.
