Toriel can very likely incinerate enemies in Chapter 3

Toriel will likely be playable* in parts of Chapter 3, given that you, Susie, and Toriel will enter the dark world together.
Her dark world form will almost certainly give her powerful fire magic, given how things in Deltarune are strongly reflective of their Undertale counterparts. As she's an adult, and a boss monster in Undertale, she's probably an exceptionally powerful character and like Noelle after she gets the ice ring could cause some serious carnage.

Something that makes me very confident that Toby has already made some fire attacks for Toriel is that for some reason, using Snowgrave on a normal enemy seems to incinerate them. This is probably due to code reuse, since Snowgrave could easily be just a reskinned fire plume attack, and using Snowgrave on a normal enemy wasn't intended and so there'd be no need to clean up mistakes like that that can come from code reuse.

*She might be "playable" in the sense that Chapter 1 Susie is, where she's in your party but does her own thing. Something tells me that a powerful monster seeing her son get attacked and seriously hurt doesn't play out well for the attacker.

I think it is definitely possible. Assuming that Toriel (And perhaps Undyne) are caught in the Fountain, they would likely either have to be Temporary Allies (Similar to Noelle) or altered in some way to be the Villains.

Huh, I guess in that light, it makes a lot more sense for them to be Allies. It would be a bit difficult to explain your Mother and The Chief of Police getting injured (Or possibly even killed) during a sleepover.

I'm not certain she (or Undyne) would be playable. I'd put money down on her and Undyne being in the chapter, but largely as non-playable NPCs or possibly assists for certain fights.

It would be hard to justify either of them just going along with Kris's directions during combat, even if they think it is a dream. Maybe pacifist route, but certainly not genocide. They're also canonically very very strong, they'd be a whole other level above anything we've dealt with before.

That being said, it would be rather hilarious for her to go full mama bear mode and just destroy the boss of the area if it lands a hit on Kris.

Undyne might be a bossfight for a genocide route though, with the consequence of her going missing mysteriously while investigating a crime.

This is sort of a goofy situation to be in though. We're going into the dark world with one, probably two characters on our side that are very likely to be leagues beyond what we've dealt with before, that's that's not factoring in the power boost lightners seems to get. Berdly was just a slightly intelligent braggart before going in, and he ended up as a somewhat difficult bossfight. Toriel and Undyne are going to be some seriously heavy hitters if they go in as expected.

I find it hard to believe that Toriel will be the one to kill the enemies, purely looking at toriels personality, I can't imagine Toriel being manipulated to kill monsters.

Undyne on the otherhand is something else. Undyne is a police officer, so she CAN be though, she actually needs to be aggresive at times as a police officer. So it is easier to manipulate Undyne into killing enemies than Toriel. So my guess actually is is that Undyne will be the one who is going to kill the others, instead of Toriel.

Which is actually much more gruesome because we could manipulate Undyne into killing Toriel. - Which leads to Toriel not waking up anymore in the light world and Kris not having a mom.

Cool theory, I have my own prediction.

Until now, 2 new characters have entered the darkworld every chapter. Kris and Susie in CH1, and Noelle and Berdly in CH2. It's pretty likely that 2 new characters will enter it in CH3. However, all the beforementioned characters were deltarune exclusive characters, not undertale characters. These characters are all from Kris' class too, and are paired in the group project. The next 2 new characters to enter will probably be from Kris' class and paired in the group project, like Catti and Jackington or Snowy (although a reoccuring undertale character) and Monster kid.

Aww... I kind of wanted to see Berdly and Noelle as Teammates again.

That is a really good point though. Being paired in the Class Project might be a defining factor in who gets chosen, at least for the first couple Chapters. After everyone is brought in, maybe it will become more of a Group Effort.

I think it's more based on whats in the room that the fountain was created in. Berdly and Noelle were in the lab where the dark world fountain was and entered the dark world that way. Since the new fountain was made at the house the dark world is gonna reflect that and whoever was near or in the house will be in the dark world with Kris and Susie

i dont think so because there are only 7 chapters in the game and wasting 2 chapters on doing the same EXACT thing but just with different people would not be in any way original. i'd think theyd make a completely different way for a weird route than do the same thing. and we are not even sure that toriel will even be with us most of the journey

since toriel lives a normal happy live with her sons in hometown i dont think she would have the capability to fight unlike in undertale wich she has to survive alone in the ruins

but then again they have cops in the hometown so i wouldnt likely believe that the people of hometown use self defense mechanism
