Spamton was desperate.
Even if, would he be the only desperate creature/person in existance? It's hard to believe, there had to be many like him, people fail constantly in buisness or get laid off. It doesn't seem like reason enough.
I think Spamton has a split personality, and Mike is the other half. I'm not basing this on much evidence, just what I observed in my playthrough. Any time his glasses go dark, his dialogue style changes and he calls for help or mentions mike, we're seeing this other persona. He even references this dialogue as a separate person when you speak to him in the shop.
That could be true, given that we get to talk with the sane Spamton for a while after the secret boss fight, and he speaks normal, and as mentioned, those moments of clarity. However I don't think the part of him we hear usually, is Mike. It might be just that his corruption is completely distorting his speech, forcing a different personality. Mike seems to be implied to be someone else, how he's a "criminal", and the thought of them brings the sane Spamton to say their name.
less loyal to the queen perhaps?
But it seems like the crossroads where you meet the devil.
It's " random chance " but it's gonna be at a moment when you are desperate enough to need ANY sort of influence, that you didn't care where it came from.
even from evil things, with consequences you choose to ignore, bc you need it NOW.
that's 100% Spamton. he's a loser, couldn't sell anything - he's super tiny, so that's a huge weight on him. He is pretty happy with BIG and SHOT. he wants to be a BIG SHOT , and he wants to BE BIG, big in terms of size AND success.
the influencer here sees the desperation in spamton, and decides this is the perfect candidate due to their unique desperation/.
i think humans have determination - but ppl that have given up their humanity are filled with desperation
KRIS seems to be influenced by this same force. their phone also makes garbage noises.
These voices corrupting people to murder, become powerful, and steal souls seems quite demonic. And Ralsei is the Prince from the Dark, which is very similar to Prince of Darkness aka the Devil…
And in the weird route Ralsei lets slip that he knew something was supposed to happen. As if he knows the events of the story before they happen…
What if, Ralsei was imprisoned in the Dark World, alone in his dark kingdom, and has in the past taken different forms and attempted to make certain darkners and lightners determined enough so that eventually a SOUL of determination would need to be sent down to stop them? And if the devil gets control of that SOUL during the Roaring, nothing can stop him?
Just some random thoughts.
Ralsei is Aware of US , the player.
Ralsei is the Devil trying to steal our SOUL and banish the Angel’s Heaven.
I could see Spamton utilizing Determination similar to how Flowey and Frisk used it in Undertale. Essentially, to use SAVE and LOAD. Spamton would SAVE, wait for a while to see what the new trends were, then LOAD to capitalize first on advertising or selling products based on whatever's supposed to be the new trend in the future, hence his newfound success. Spamton phrases [Hyperlink Blocked] sort of like how an addict would. Possibly he's hooked on Determination?
I wonder if Gaster is giving Determination to certain denizens of the Dark World to see if they can utilize it to successfully breach the Normal World while using the Dark Fountains and/or Dark Crystals as an access point of sorts. And if they can escape, perhaps Gaster could replicate the results for himself to use.
its something like choice, consider it in the context that deltarune is a world that is supposed to be devoid of choice, but he also says hes putting his hyperlinked blocked in the empty disk, and some statements in the snowgrave route don't compltly line up either
I was thinking the same actually. The red soul is the link, and it’s blocked for him because we’re in control of it.
