[2] You can't use the battlesuits that are soul linked (Awakened) on the same team, meaning these shared the same exp and both battlesuits will level up at the same time, and some skills level are also shared between them. And they are considered as only one may exist in any one time, if you put A in the team you will not be able to use B and vice versa. (A story about ghost from the Samsara possessed the girl's body started these awakened series... You may find that part of the story in the Manga Station.)
[3] You can use the none soul linked battlesuits on the same team even when the wearer has the same name.
[4] By story, some characters may have the same name shown on the battlesuits but they are actually not the same person and might have a different name as their "real name". If i remember correctly, the "Captain", the guy you role played in this game, is lazy and he "sneaked" the girls from another dimension into the academy using the same ID, thus their name is the same. eg. Kasumi <= Sakura, Kong Ming <= Theresa, Bronie <= Bronya, Delta <= Rozaliya, Tericula <= Theresa... etc etc... You the captain travels between bubble universe (parallel worlds) and the girls you picked up are none related to the main story even when they look alike and have the same name while wearing the same battlesuit... they are each a completely different person (by story explanation for the gacha part). -- Note, the "Captain" also exist in other Honkai series, so a certain characters that are carried over from the last Honkai game (Honkai Gakuen) was there in the beginning of the game's launch and stories about them are added later. So if you bother too hard it's certainly going to hurt your brain... The Honkai Project tends to recycle and reuse characters from the past, so you can easily find characters existing twice in the same game or in another Honkai Game. Example, the next Honkai Game "Honkai Star Rail" actually have 2 Bronya existing in the same time line of the character listing, the grown up version with the name Bronya, and the Bronie version from HI3rd using the name "Silver Wolf"...
[5] Other than the main story, there are the event exclusive "Captainverse" story line that happens during the events. You will get to see the characters that are involved in the real captain's story there. Some of these characters ended up as cosmetic for some of the battlesuits. So not all the alternative dimension characters gets to become a battlesuit of their own. There's no clear line drawn between what character will become a battlesuit and who will become a cosmetic or who will become the core upgrade (which actually turn the old battlesuit into a new version). It's pretty messy without reading the story and the mangas.
Example. when you upgrade Rozaliya's "Molotov Cherry" battlesuit with a core, it turns into "Fervent Tempo" and the wearer becomes Delta. A completely different person by story and yet they share the same battlesuit and character. On the other hand, "Yamabuki Armor" when cored become the "Drive Kometa" battlesuit, but the Bronya wearing the suit is the same in the Story... So... i don't really think there's a specific rule on how they introduce the cosmetic/character/battlesuit... they do it how they like it imo... in a chaotic way... even cosmetic have their original "owner" that can be found either in the story or event, and cosmetic are technically also a "battlesuit" with a proper battlesuit name... so... yeah... chaotic...
