I can't log into my existing Honkai Impact account.

Why is it that Steam automatically made an account in the game but I am having to start over despite it being the same e-mail that I used with my miHoYo account? Yet another infuriating thing about the way things work on Steam IMO. SMH

It's not Steam's fault. It's miHoYo's. They made it where you cannot connect your existing miHoYo account to the Steam version. They even tell you that right on the store page in the Event Section FAQ and in the social media announcements of the Steam Version's launch back in October.

As for why you cannot connect, nothing has been officially announced but I suspect it has some sort of thing to do with possible deals with google and/or apple as if you started a account on mobile you have to use the mobile version to top-up/make purchases.

Well no wonder, I didn't read all that. Oof! Well, that's really lame IMO and honestly will get me to play the game less... I wonder if the standard version off of the official website will work with the old account.

downloading it from the website does let you use your miHoYo account so youre set to go with that, although i do wish maybe in the future they will let us use miHoYo accounts

Yes, the game client on the website lets you log in with the miHoYo account.

is there a way to get on ur existing mihoyo acc? i rlly thought i would be able to have my old acc back and im quite sad i cant find the button able to. if there is a way please let me know!
