Want to make a game like Slay the Spire
I am a new creative abstract artist and want to try my create my idea which deals with cards like Slay the Spire but has other elements in it. Is Godot 4 or GM better to learn on? Will NEVER USE UNITY!

GameMaker would be easier to learn on.
However, if you are coming from Unity, you should know that rug-pull and dev exodus already happened here after GM move to a monthly subscription plan back in 2021

Which was just the latest in a thread of moves detrimental to devs (like removal of old forum in 2019, removal of Studio 2 / Studio 1 & Workshop from Steam, locking Marketplace to Studio 1, removal of blog posts with tutorials related to Studio 2 & 1, removal of Sandbox)
Its not like YoYoGames are somehow different from other corporations and have your best interests at heart
Unsurprisingly, hardly anyone from Unity went to other closed-source corporation projects[imgur.com]

Should I just uninstall GM and go with Godot since GM pulled a UNITY?

Just don't invest too much in this particular engine.
For instance, if you start out by using GM visual scripting, force yourself to move to programming eventually.

This guy did a really good job clarifying this. Yoyo games (now technically Opera) also did some trolling on devs a lot in the past when they switched to a monthly fee model and in the future many people will understand this even more, as owners of perpetual licenses will be prevented from using the new runtime that will be released (probably in sometime in 2024). When this happens, your perpetual license will be restricted to the runtime before the so called new runtime, and if you want to export using the new runtime, well, you will have to pay at least a 1 month worth of subscription.

If you want to use the gamemaker as a hobby, I don't think it will affect you at all, but if you really want to make money from it, it might be best to consider Godot as an option. The amount of resources, the fact that it's open source, and the fact that you won't need to worry about...the next day you'll have to Paying for a subscription from nowhere is a huge relief in the long term.
