'Ambiguous'?

What does this mean in context of the game? The meaning of the word is ' doubtful or uncertain especially from obscurity or indistinctness.' yet dialogue suggests it might lock a romance option in? What's scarier is there's no question asking this anywhere in these forums; so am I missing some cue to say it's doing something either against or inline with the meaning of the word?

I feel like I'm just pressing buttons in this game at times lol

Not too sure what you are referring to (text somewhere in the game?), but romance option is decided at end of game based off NPC favourability (top NPC above 140 with their three events completed and received their gift after third event, also some duo/harem romance endings as well). If you don't meet requirements for any NPC you get a married to some generic unknown person based off preset stats, plus a handful of profession endings prevent romance ending (reload saves to trigger different endings to speed things up)

OP means during Hang Outs/Dates with characters, where when you max out the Rose bar during it the option "Ambiguous" is select-able at the end.

It is mostly likely a translation mistake, they probably meant something like "Amorous" or another word that means to induce a "Romantic Air". However the tooltip is unclear and does imply that it's used for romance but its mostly nonsensical. The game can be quite unclear at times, heck even this thing changes between Hang Outs, like a casual activity, to Dates in some circumstances :/
