Game is completely BROKEN

So I purchased this game last night, played for a bit and honestly was having a good time. Then today I ran into the letter bug... Not so great, but I figured id just ignore it. Then I got to the horse stables and tried to tame a horse. My game completely froze and crashed my entire system. I couldn't even alt out of the game. I restarted my computer, tried to play again, and I can't at all. My save file is broken. When I start a new game, I cant even progress. I go through the opening sequence and get to the point where you can actually play the game, and its just broken. I cant click to progress dialogue.

I really like this game, but these bugs are destroying the game's integrity. I am thinking about returning unless someone might have a fix for me. I have restarted the game, patched any files, uninstalled to reinstall and it is still broken. Any advice is welcome.

UPDATE: Rolling back the patch does not work. Switching languages does not work. The game crashes upon loading a file or simply restarting fresh. It will not allow progression. It freezes completely after naming your daughter and starting in your house. This is a patch that the devs will have to look into. Hopefully soon.

It's this specific patch that's broken. Try to unpatch:

"There's a quick fix.

Press windows key + R. Type in "steam://open/console"

download_depot 1669980 1669981 7590118745015040093

Then go to your steam folder > Steamapps > Content > app1669980 > depot1669981
And then copy the contents of that folder. Go to the game local files and paste the files you just copied. replace everything."

I tried this. It does not work.

u sure doing it right? u waiting download to be finished 1st before copying right?
that depot was to download older version .08 because it didnt have the bug with the letter.

u just need to replace everything from the depot to ur installer game.

as for the taming horse bug, it only happen to me once.
it works fine after restarting the game.

Yes, I waited until the download was done. I know what it was suppose to do. The letter bug did not break my game. I was able to play when quitting and restarting. After the horse bug, my game froze and I had to force shut down my computer to get it to close the game. Now when trying to play, i cant go back to my old save file. It never loads. When I try to start a new game, I can play til the point where you interact with your child for the first time, but I cannot progress the dialogue bc the game crashes again and freezes completely. The game is broken.

Nope, even switching to Chinese doesnt fix it.

Apparently when you have steam cloud activated for this game, save data can get corrupted. So if you have it activated, deactivate it for this game, delete the save data and if you have the demo deinstall it. However I don't know why you can't progress normally, I personally didn't have the steam cloud issue so i don't know how much it affects the game.
The two bugs came as already mentioned from the last update. The devs presumably don't work on sundays, so let's hope it gets fixed on monday

This happened to me once, and I lost a good ~30 minutes of progress. When I clicked the button to initiate the taming minigame, the menu flashed and then the game soft locked. I decided to try it a few cycles/months later and it worked just fine.

So I haven't even progressed past the first month yet but I get the same issue now. My game crashed suddenly and now I cannot progress past the naming stage. Nothing is clickable and music just keeps playing

Tried this and it doesn't change anything. Guess I'll just have to wait and see if devs patch this one day.

This works for me. Make sure it's switching the text language, not voice. I'm on v1.00.09. Supposedly there was a patch that tried to fix the letter bug, but it crashed the game instead, and was rolled back.

YES! This is the problem that I'm having as well. The patch roll back doesn't work if the game is just broken. I am going to mess with the files some more, but I will most likely just wait for the devs to fix the bugs. I'm so happy they saw everyone's comments and they are working hard to fix everything! Phew!

I have found a solution to the save file corruption. It will not fix the bugs, so don't click on the letters or to tame a horse. Wait for the patch.

Like the devs posted, you will have to delete all the save files in the EggHatcher folder (LocalLow folder) via your AppData folder. My game is now working properly again.

I bought this game today and I have literally the same problems :(
I also reported about this bug.
I noticed that switching to Chinese text works well ( after doing this trick with depot). Ofcourse, this is not problem solving if you don't know Chinese. (Me personally don't know it...unfortunately) It's a pity to ignore letters because it gives good gifts and relationships.
So... Let's wait for a new patch together :D
