The English translation is bad. Like, really bad. I would say it was a C grade attempt if I was teaching an ESL class. This is a "translated" video game being sold for money so I have to give it a D at best. It would maybe have been acceptable in the 90s. It's mostly understandable, but it is not properly written. I genuinely think whoever they paid to translate it just passed it through Google Translate then went home for the day.
I can't even comment about localization or anything at this point, but I'm an hour in and there are so many grammar problems and vaguely nonsensical sentences that I feel disinclined to continue in this largely text-based game.
My current hypothesis is that either they didn't hire an actual English translator, or the translator they hired deliberately misled them re: ability with English.

It's most likely a machine translation, yes. I'm hoping that they hire an actual linguist later on, or at the very least run it through a machine translation again and then have someone who speaks the English language proof-read it into something more legible.

It's definitely not all machine translation. It's far too coherent, consistently, for that. It's mostly just grammar issues.

I expected about the same as I did for PM games and was not disappointed. It is not common for Chinese/Japanese/Korean games to have a good translation in general, especially not for indie titles.

This isn't nearly that bad at all. Like it's not really good, but 95% of the time it can be entirely understood, so it's serviceable.

It's not great, but it's not completely terrible. The Princess Maker games are MUCH worse than this.

I like it, and think its pretty okay. I rather have them improve game than use time and money on better translation.

Its not bad, but its definitly generated (the dialog at least). You can even see the text transform sometimes in the dialouge.

What I've seen of the translation is definitely not making me want to buy it. For a game that's focused on character interaction and development, you really need an at least decent translation. I hope the game does well enough that they'll consider improving the translation since otherwise it seems well made.

It's better than the Princess Maker translations they've got on Steam, though that bar is the absolute lowest. It's passable here and doesn't detract from the game really.
