xbox one controller not working

anyone found a fix my xbox one controller is being detected and works for controlling steam big picture but does not work in game. I have no other controllers plugged in

found a work around connecting my controller with the game already open seems to work. with most games i have to connect before i open the game but this one is different

I'm wondering how something like this could sneak through any QA.. unless every test case starts from:
1. Launch the game
2. Connect a gamepad

Hey sorry that happened for you- glad plugging it in mid-game worked though! The code checks whenever you plug something new in, and should pick up when a controller is already plugged in, but coding for all types of controllers can be a bit finnicky and sometimes certain ones slip through the cracks. With the controllers I tested with it always worked, but will look into making that code more robust to avoid more issues, thanks for pointing it out!!

My Xbox Series X controller mostly works, but start and select/back don't work and PS controller prompts show up.

Strange about the select/back, will look into that, thank you! For the prompts, you can manually change what buttons are shown on the graphics section of the pause menu. IIRC I tried to have it figure out your controller and pick automatically, but apparently I didn't get it right lol, will look into that more!

+1. When rebinding the map button the game seems to think that "Select" maps to LT. I've just been using ESC on my keyboard for now to get into the menu.

Have same problem. My xbox controller shown as Dual Shock (all this symbols like triangle and square) And I can not put any action on RT LT. The game do not see I press this buttons. Sad

I got Islets free on Epic but use Steam to launch it cause their controller support is much better. However, I found it did not work right when the Windows user was a non-admin. I was able to re-map the controls to the keyboard equivalent and have a good play experience even if the key reminders were for keyboard, not controller. When I logged off and then back on as different account with admin rights, it worked natively and had the correct PlayStation button reminders. The controller was connected via Bluetooth.

Well this sucks, I just bought the game and I see these comments are from 2022 and have still not been resolved

Same issue with the playstation settings and no LT/RT. Good thing I got this game for free on Epic, is all I'm saying. Seems this should be a simple enough fix, if someone cared enough.

finished 91% of the game with my xbox series x controller without any issues whatsoever and now it suddenly isn't working anymore. tried all possible steam controller settings, nothing worked yet.

game is unplayable with keyboard.. no mouse bindings.
