How is the Game in Single Player
Hi, just a serious post about the current state of the game and how engaging the Ai is to play against. I've played a little bit of AoW3 and honestly found it a bit boring after a short while and battles became repetitive. The feeling that I had experienced the entire game in under 4 hours and paying a premium for that kinda left a bad taste.

I always enjoy 4x games for the most part and wondering if the sale price is worth getting another AoW game.

Great if you like experimenting with different builds and realms. Not so sure if you are just interested in winning

I've never really been one to get onto the spreadsheet sim train and kinda just play how I think a campaign theme should be played. This doesn't limit me to not just fat stacking my forces with the best possible units when that is roughly the only competent way to play ala Stellaris.

Given the amount of variety AoW3 had, if you found it boring and repetitive after a few hours, I'm assuming that AoW4's substantial focus on variety and custom faction building will be likewise wasted on you.

That's up to your tastes. AOW 3 has prequels but they are comparatively simpler, albeit AOW2 not by much. AOW4 has more going on, but that's no guarantee you will like it.

This pretty much.
Once you get the hang of it winning is easy enough to just autoresolved to victory.
The game in single player is enfuriating.
Got to round 137, with 7 turns left on the victory with 3 golden wonders. i have 6 armies near my golden wonder. I fight an ai faction, I win, but before my turn, the ai moves another one of its armies, through the gap left in the 2 armies of mine that fell, to the golden wonder, stopping the capture.

Play on lower difficulty.
Hard isnt challanging just tedious.

That's what I was kinda afraid of. The previous title didn't really offer a whole lot once I figured it out early in my playthru. And I'm just getting tired of getting burnt on my gaming purchases lately.

Given what you wrote, you should rather try Planetfall's empire mode, its also hard to expierience the entire game in under 4 hours, since there are 8 fleshed out factions, not 15 like in SM with their own high Tier units, but thats the price you pay for 3D unit models.

The irony in 3D models when I think Disciples 2 had the best looking units outta that series haha

I don't understand why that's infuriating? That seems like the AI is doing a good job of trying to stop you from winning?

I enjoy single player. The only downside is that AI seems to have all the intel, which means AI knows how much army you have even without entering your realm. They only strike when they know they have enough troops.

id rather have the AI know all the intel on me than have them be the way they were at launch where they would just sit their doom stacks in one spot or shuffle their units around back and forth aimlessly lol. A small price to pay in my book for at least half way competent AI.

They sometimes still do that lol.
Another thing is, they don't really read map conditions, like mountainous map or one-city would be a easy win since they don't know what to do.
