Spellwhatever... Conclave of Ao or other..." after reading the OP post then seeing the second post. Dang...
:D
There are heroes in this game you can recruit by various means as the game session progresses, along with your starting leader (Champion or Wizard King) that's a unit in of themselves. These heroes level up, have traits/perks they can pick, gain equipment etc. as the game goes on, and there's even ways to respec them (1st time is free) or change their looks.
There aren't any moving cities like Spellforce: Conquest of Eo. Expansion in AoW4 is more like your average 4x game by founding new settlements/cities as you expand. You also have free settlements that can be absorbed into your empire. The closest thing to the mechanics of a moving mage tower that pumps out units is summoning summons directly into a stack. Those give you the flexibility of recruiting units without them having to come from a city or dwelling.
Eo borrows a lot from AoW/HOMM series and there are quite a few similarities, but both will likely play very differently.
Edit: Oh yeah there's also an Astral tome called the "Tome of Teleportation" in the game, which may unlock fast travel research like a teleportation device you can build between cities.
Not a bad idea for a mod and probably would be quite doable. Basically take the Wizard tower building from cities, create am animated floating version with a new mesh, and basically make a "Throne Unit" that floats around and provides unit production. Could be cool. :p
Sadly "Spellforce Conquest of Eo" turned out to be not very impressive. Their team certainly tried to oversell that games features and the importance of the path you chose.
yeah it was very unimpressive but i loved that concept of the Mage tower i would love to see this for the Wizard King or for other Mage Hero Units
