How to make Heros undead...
Hey Guys, since the Changes to the Undead Tomes.

What ways are there to make your own Heros Undead?
I know you can ressurect Dead Heros from the Crypt.
But i allready got some Living Heroes with High Levels and it would be very inconvinient to let them Die (i am not even sure they would end up in My Crypt) and ressurect them. Simply because that would mean they lose some Turns. Since well i need them to Ressurect, than bring them Back to the "Front Lines" and so on.

Are there some other Ways to make them Undead? And i am simply not seeing it?

Every Idea is appreciated.

The Wightborn major transformation (t3 shadow tome of great transformation) changes unit type to undead.
Simply cast wightborn.
The change to undead is based on what culture/race that hero belongs, too. Several heroes you may recruit in a game are not of your culture and race, so even if you use wightborn on your culture it won't affect them.

In most cases its cheaper to kill a hero in battle and resurrect them in the crypt by necromancy, his corpse will end up in your crypt, as long as you win the combat, the hero only needs to die.

Yeah i know about my Own Race, i am Interested in Foreign Heros. I got a Bunch of Pretty Good Heroes via Events/Ruins but they are all still living, so Major Race Transformation will not affect them.

So basicly the Only other Way is get them Killed in Combat and afterwards Ressurect them from Crypt? Shouldnt they End up in the Enemys Crypt if i fight to another Faction? Or depends that on the Winner of the Fight?

You can cast major transformations on other races as well if you're the race's controller, but that might not be worth it for some heroes. I THINK you can get a hero killed by a free city and if they end up keeping the hero, take over that city and then raise them. Also a lot of work for a hero.

I guess the easiest Way would be to let them Purposfully die to a Ruin or Plague Encounter aka a Neutral Faction, and win the Fight afterwards to keep them.
But i Think i Play with "Heros Survive is the Battle is Won" Option.
If thats the Case, these Option is out the Window.

I kinda seem to Remember there was a Spell to Specificly turn a Hero into an Undead, but i think that was AoW3, if i dont Missremember.
Which is why i thought i go ask in the Forums if someone else got an Idea.

I find it difficult to comprehend why making your "Older Heroes Undead" seems so Hard in this Game.

I think the hero resurgence is only if you auto-resolve. If you manually get them killed, I'm pretty sure they will stay dead.

As for the dilemma itself, I don't think you're expected to get racial transformation consistency if you're absorbing lots of other races and their heroes. That's kind of the trade-off. You gain variety and options, but lose uniformity.

Depends on your playstile and difficulty. I am not gonna waste 300 mana 100 souls and 300 casting points to just convert 1 hero to undead.
Killing that hero and reanimating him in the crypt is much cheaper this makes it for me the only solution how to handle the situation.

But you are of course free to cast wightborn multiple times, keep in mind you need to "own" the other races to make it work, which often times is not even the case.

And yeah, it depends only on who wins the fight, but you can also setup the game to make heroes always go to the owner crypt, something i would recommend, cause that setting is used in MP and should also improve A.I. hero performance a bit, which means its a good idea to do in SP as well.
