Mark Of The "__" Traits Seeded?

Wondering how these random traits occur, and what causes them to occur or change.

In the current match I'm playing I got the Mark of the Owl I think it's the ancient wonder one, and was more than happy to accept it. Then I did a combat with one of my weaker armies against a pillaging free city and decided to load back to do it better.

However now I'm getting Mark of the Conflux which I don't care for at all, and would really like a way to get my old trait back.

Does anyone have advice or ideas as to how these traits occur?
