Step-by-Step - Dealing with AoW4 Game Crashes with Nvidia Graphics Cards
Why read this - My system is an I9 14000KF with 32 MB system RAM, Nvidia 4070 TI Super 16 MB, and Win11 Pro. Game was crashing a lot. Crash did not give any error messages except the Windows error message of click if you want to report the error to Microsoft.

Does your fix work? I run the main game with 6 Mods and the Second Expansion Pass and now have very few to no crashes (nothing is perfect in the PC world).

What do you think causes the crashes? The crashes seemed to occur when AoW4 was flipping/changing to a new screen.

Do I have to dumb down other video settings to make this work? No you do not. My settings are all at high resolution. Now if you have an old video card, you might have to rethink this.

The Fix - Using the Nvidia App (formerly called Geforce Experience)

1. Download the latest Nvidia App from Nvidia.com.
2. Run app and go into System Settings.
3. Turn V-Sync off.
4. Set FPS to 60 Hz.
5. While you’re at it, check and make sure your monitor is set to its correct resolution.
6. Now click on Drivers in the left-hand menu and make sure you have the latest video driver for your card.
7. Go down to the next line in settings and look at Games and Apps. You will see how many games have been scanned by the Nvidia App. If AoW4 and other games you have loaded on your PC and Steam aren’t showing up in the App you may have to add a location to the game paths.
8. Now click on Home in the left-hand menu and you should see the AOW 4 game in there. Click on the game and select play and the App will launch Steam and the AoW4 loader.
