are feudal's new "aspirant" units considered "evolve" units?
i'm assuming no because it's not explicitly stated as "evolve" and they evolve at legendary rank, not elite. but thought i'd ask just to be sure.

aspirant units do not benefit from evolve boosts. its its own seperate mechanic (which functions a lot like evolve, but isnt evolve)

if you want to know more than you can read the dev diary on the fuedal rework, ill add the link to it.

No.
The source being the devs themselves, in the most recent dev dairy(#41);
These are contained within the new Aspirant traits, which function similarly to evolve but with two key differences: They do not benefit from effects that modify evolution (they are not evolving after all) and they require a particular condition to be met before they are able to promote into the higher tier unit.

on another note, not sure if this is a bug with the beta but i am unable to build defenders that have the "aspirant: liege guard" attribute in my cities. https://imgur.com/a/Z7A0Il3

even though it is stated in the encyclopedia that you can, somehow, get defenders with that attribute. am i doing something wrong? my archers seem to correctly have the aspirant longbow.

You either get Longbows (Monarchy) or you get Liege Guards (Aristocracy). You don't get both.

This as both subcultures get different Aspirant lines respectfully.

Monarch: Unique aspiring Archer unit that aspires into unique Longbow unit.
Aristocracy: Unique aspiring Defender unit that aspires into unique Liege Guard unit.

Which is why there's two Encyclopedia entries for both Archers and Defenders. :)

Edit: Note there's no actual difference between Aspring and Default Archer/Defender units. Just whether or not they have the Apiring trait.

You need to take the aristocracy subculture instead of the monarchy subculture.
