modding for noob
I managed to figure out basic Warhammer 3 modding but still very new to this stuff. I download the modding guide on steam and just trying to follow the examples but still confused what to do.

Editing Existing packages

I follow steps 1-3 easily starting up package manager, creating new package. Open tools >Resource Editor. But When I click on file>open> I am suppose to click Units. But I have no idea where units is or where I can find it. When I click open just takes me to documents. I can click Paradox Interactive> Age of Wonders 4> which leads me to bunch of folders that are all empty if I click on them.

Am I just very thick or am I missing some steps?

Yeah the official Modding guide is close, but not exact on a lot of the paths/steps. It also isn't clear on what is a path on the file system, and what is a category within the pack, and often combines those things.

The path for the official packs is <STEAM_LIBRARY_PATH>\steamapps\common\Age of Wonders 4\Content\Title\Packs.
So where the guide says "File > Open > Units > Units_Culture > Barbarian - Units",
it really means " File > Open > <INSERT_PATH_FOR_OFFICIAL_PACKS> > Units > Units_culture.rpk
then go to the category "Barbarian - Units" in the resource editor

"Units" is a subfolder where the games content is stored. More specifically its the "Units" folder in the resource packs folder, under the general game content folder. They could have explained it much better. Where you find it is in "Age of Wonders 4/Content/Title/Packs/Units", and that is not the AoW4 folder in our documents, but the games installation folder. You can get there, by rightclicking the game in your library, then select "Manage > Browse local files".
