Apparently new games dont support G-sync or Freesync?
The devs were saying that exclusive fullscreen is "legacy" meaning windows doesnt support it and it shouldnt be used.

Then why does G-sync and Freesync continue to be supported? They both work correctly when exclusive fullscreen is enabled. Is this supposed to be a joke? Also why do other new games have this option if its no longer possible?

Something is clearly twisted here. I get frame stuttering if i enable G-sync for windows, meaning this game would simply not be compatible with my monitor and i have to endure frame tearing. I bought a fancy expensive monitor to NOT HAVE SCREEN TEARING. What is this buffoonery?

Ever since Nvidia added the option to cap frame rate, I see no purpose in v-sync or g-sync. I much prefer to just run borderless, cap FPS, and never deal with g-sync issues.

I don't know about G-Sync, but it works fine for me with Freesync. It does not make any difference in performance whether I have it on or off.
Freesync does not need exclusive fullscreen to work, and G-Sync should not need it either.

There seem to be several issues, mostly with Nvidia GPUs (or rather their driver) at the moment, so I would assume its more that, than the lack of a really outdated feature that should not be used anymore.
So I would suggest to be patient and wait for patches. They are working on fixing the issues that are being reported.

What youre describing is what the setting low latency mode exists for. Im not sure why you think low latency mode makes G-sync irrelevant. In fact its best to have both, but make sure low latency mode is on ultra.

My Nvidia Control Panel has 2 choices for G-Sync. "Full Screen" and "Windowed and Full Screen". I always just leave it on the latter and haven't noticed any problems. I can only assume that yours has the same.

If running nvidia you need to enable option in control panel to allow gsync/freesync in windowed and fullscreen modes.
Game uses DX12. And DX12 doesn't have a true exclusive fullscreen mode like in DX11 and older. And as such there is no real performance difference between running fullscreen or borderless with DX12. Which is why devs didn't bother including a fullscreen mode.
Some DX12 games do include a "fullscreen" option. But those don't run an actual true fullscreen mode. And is as the devs pointed out just an old legacy function that isn't very relevant for dx12 anymore.
With the correct option set in your nvidia control panel, gsync/freesync will function perfectly in AoW4

In fact, there is no advantage whatsoever to running any DX12 games in fullscreen mode. And may even slow down alt tabbing if you run it in that mode for no performance benefit at all. Borderless performs just as well and doesn't come with any slow alt-tabbing issues.

You guys are completely wrong about using the sync technology for windowed mode, yes i know the option exists, i specifically mentioned it. The fact remains that there are annoying issues that come from it because the option is a basically forced hack.

What i didnt know and im assuming the devs dont fully understand this either based on their explanation, is that DX12 on borderless fullscreen picks up G-sync. This is not the case for DX11. So yes as far as i can tell it works fine without needing to enable windowed G-sync.

Odd that you say that as I have reread this thread a couple times and haven't seen you mention it at all. Have you tried fast sync?

I said it right here. I also stated in my last post exactly where the discrepancy is.

I understand perfectly what you are saying. Diablo 4 doesn't have a full screen and if I activate Freesync I get stuttering and performance drops. Do you know if Nvidia/Amd have patched this problem yet?, it's sad to have to disable gsync/freesync with new titles of DX12.Es incredible that there is so little information on the internet about this topic.
