Planetfall vs 4

Hey guys so i have played like 30 hours of aow 4 and i really like it alot. I bought planetfall as well for cheap, and i see that they are both pretty similar. Which one do you guys like the most? It seems planetfall is more polished to me for one thing, but that should be a given since its alot older. These are my first aow games i have ever played and man, they are awesome!! It actually made me buy civ 6 and its good as well!!! I can say that im addicted to 4x's now haha!

I like both. They are very different though. Planetfall feels more well-rounded and thought-out, and has a lot of features I wish AoW4 had, but that's after all the DLC. We'll see how AoW4 pans out once it has all of its DLC.

I tried so many times to get into Planetfall. It just never clicked for me. I never could get into the X-COM style fights. This one though clicked almost instantly for me.

Planetfall is an absolute failure that attracted 10,000 players at release and retained 300 over time. Disgusting and boring game, a waste of resources, very bad design, very bad campaign.

AoW4 received 44,000 players for release and has great potential to become the game of the year or win an award in the categories. It all depends on the developer, how quickly he will fix bugs in the game and adjust the performance, provide new content.

There is no point in comparing these games. Planetfall is a waste of resources. AoW4 is a promising game that is on the verge of becoming a masterpiece with a good enough editor.

Goodness... Calm down... Planetfall feels like the prequel to AoW4, a lot of the concepts pioneered in it was used in AoW4.

Yeah, my brother says Planetfall walked so AoW4 could run. I find it very accurate.

Although I love AOW4, I think I prefer Planetfall. It is really brilliantly designed. Love the mod system.

Planetfall was a proof of concept for future design options that 4 is using right now, but better. It wasn't a total failure, but there was definitely some teething issues.

I love how Planetfall is infinite X-Com. Someone earlier said this is different. Could someone be more specific about how?

Well that's the thing isn't it, Planetfall is very different just because of it's theme. That's why people are still playing, as a thread on their forums say. Just because the new Fantasy version came out doesn't mean it's time to set aside the Sci-Fi one; it's still going to be special.

In fact the same could be said for Age of Wonders 3 as well, AoW 4 is so different with the removal unique races and thematic classes, in favor of more generic created races and as well as features like minor factions and more in-depth dungeons, AoW 3 is still different enough to play even though both are set in the same setting.

Planetfall was a mistake.

I got the AoW4 delay. Sorry, but planetfall has a small popularity rating. Players didn't like it. I have planetfall and find it a very boring game, with a very bad story and very bad design.

There was no reasonable reason to postpone AoW4, for the sake of a bad planetfall. I have a lot of complaints about planetfall, but I'm too lazy to argue about it, as this game is not worthy of attention. The fact is that AoW4, in its current limited state, is superior to the boring planetfall with all the DLCs.
