Ok, thanks for the update
Yes, there are forests in desert and they count as forest and it allow you to build foresters near your capital when you start in desert (without casting terraforming spells). People actually haven’t touched desert at all in this discussion, why did you bring it here? It’s totally not related xD That’s the issue, swamps and desolate contain no forests so you can’t build foresters to boost stuff early game.
its another game build from the ground up, just because previous game x had something doesn't automatically mean sequel has it.
A couple posts mentioned swamp adaptation deleting forests. It's not (only) because there are no swamp forests, it's because the swamp/desert/ice/desolate adaptations all delete forests regardless of if one existed or not. The point is adaptation traits don't do anything to help you build foresters and don't claim to. Ice/desert spawns regularly have no forests nearby, while forests do exist for them they aren't super common, and you run into the same "no foresters" problem with them as well. Luckily you can usually make foresters in the water or underground if you want the boost, or use special improvement foresters, but it's not the end of the world if you have none.
The lava morale issue the OP mentioned should maybe be addressed though. It's not something I noticed personally.
