Crash on same turn EVERY time / Any fix?
Had this in 2 games now. Once at turn 19 and once on turn 78. The game just crashes to desktop when it is A.I.s turn. Can not do anything. Changed every setting possible. Reloaded several other saves. Nothing works. It crashes every time on the same turn in the same moment. I have read some other player had the same issue. Is there any fix atm? I can not play if you just fear your game stops working any moment and you can not do anthing about it.

They are working on a fix apparently.
The crashes happen to a lot of us looking at the forum.

It's and AI thing and the only thing you can do is dramatically change the game seed so the battle or whatever that caused the crash doesn't happen. That means going back a "turn" or turns to find the Faction causing the crash and prevent/change something with them. Like going back in time to kill the baby Hitler of game crashing so it never happens. :D :D

I did this on my second, final ES story mission playthrough to get another 30 turns in. Then I did a quick fix of another crash after that by moving my invading armies West around to the Throne City of the new crashing faction instead of North towards it. That changed that Faction's AI movement patterns enough to continue the game without crashing.

Now about 5 turns later, I have to do it again and somehow kill or change some of her troop movements causing the issue. It's on the move of one of her stacks on her Throne City mentioned above going to go battle or do something in the east that I can't see. It might have something to do with full stacks vs. full stacks overwhelming the Auto battles in AI battles. Or just one scripting error with certain variables intriduced in ES. "Too many" Tentacles? Just guessing. :p ;P

The new open beta branch fixed the crash issue for me.

Yep Fixed in open beta. I didn't try validating though now that I think about it though. Maybe try that first before jumping over not that it matters much if at all. :)

Also: A Merlin event popped up where he disappears and abandons Lilly, and maybe that was causing the crash upon it loading the event script? Dunno/

Edit 2: The Dragon Sumuskira took Merlin's throne City defeating him.

Basic question: How do you use the "open beta branch"? Is that a server in the game we can choose to connect to? My mulitplayer games crashed to desktop every 3-4 turns since the expansion update.

Ok, I found it. For anyone else confused by the "use the open beta branch" option, if you right click on the game in your library, then chose Properties: Betas: Beta Participation: open_beta - Branch for prerelease Testing...that will trigger about a 1 minute or so download for that client and then your game will show its using the [open_beta] version.

You can go back to normal by selecting None in the Beta Participation: dropdown.
