Question to all Players
So, Havoc Magic reads as follows:
Grants base Magic attacks of enchanted units:
Base 60% chance of inflicting a random negative status effect.

This is a two part question:
1) When you read that, what negative status effects do you think is included in that list? Or do you think all of them?

2) What do you think when you read "negative status effects"?

Now, once you read those two and answered them, I want you to type them down. Then, I want you to give your thoughts on this:
The ACTUAL list of negative status effects Havoc Magic can inflict is: Weaken, Misfortune, Berserk, Stunned, and Insanity.

Do you think the Havoc Magic description is misleading?

Very good question

I definitely thought it would be more than those 4. I guess I would have assumed that the elemental-based status effects would have been included in that list.

Would be nice if it was more so it didn't inflict Insanity ALL THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ TIME.

The description could be more explicit, but the effects are all appropriate to the theme of the tome. Adding elemental ones wouldn't be.

Negative status effects would also include weakness effects and probably also damage over time. It kinda makes sense that havoc magic doesn't just randomly put poison or freeze or stun on units, but i guess the list could be a bit longer than the 4 effects. Berserk isn't even necessarily a negative i think. Isn't that the one where the unit essentially gets an extra turn and attacks a random nearby (potentially also friendly) target?

Berserk makes it, it attacks (prefering enemies) and ignores casualties.

Though, the attack might be chosen random, like the archer hero stabs.

Initially I did expect it to maybe cause bleeding and electrified etc. I do consider it to be misleading. "Random" suggests any of the possible negative effects.

That definitely is kind of misleading yeah.

And the list is a bit thin.

It could do with a better description. I don't mind it not pulling from everything, but it should be described better. It pulls from a different pool from the Mistling ranged attacks, so often my Searing Arrows Mistlings inflict burning and then cancel it again by adding Wet, which is just odd, and I don't think the Mistling can give Insanity.

I got into a debate once on whether Havoc Magic's current tooltip was misleading or not. I honestly the tooltip should be this to make it more clear on what it actually does:

Havoc Magic is really good if it procs stuns - so i prefere the list to be at a minimum to increase the chance for stuns.

It is indeed misleading, if(rightfully) expecting the whole range of possible status effects, but I think it is more powerful this way.
They are all control or damage debuff-based and have a base of 60% chance, which is quite high.
well, really those are pretty good. i mean, thats like a 1/4 chance of stunning the enemy instead of getting some weaker debuff.

but this is why i dont bother with random effects in these types of games. i love random/chaos themes but in stuff like this, you just know its going to suck more often than not.
