Protection against Umbra terraform?
Is there a way for non Umbra faction to protect themselfes from that spreading darkness terraform, that spreads from umbra citys with that statue? All my territories near the umbra citys are covered in it and my normal armies are suffering from attrition damage without a hero that has a trinket that makes him and the army immune to that attition. I have tried terraforming spells but they only change it for one round and after that I cant terraform it again obviously because in already is graslands.
I know the primal fractions have a similar building to terraform automatically but I am playing as ravagers at the moment without umbral race transformation.

I haven't fought against it yet, but I've played with the Umbral trait on a faction. The umbral terraforming is requires a specialty building built on one of their districts, like a quarry or teleporter, and it spreads up to 5 tiles away. Would suggest pillaging the tile improvement that spreads it.

Destroy the building and it will stop the spreading, Most likely will need to raze the city/capture and manually destroy the SPI, but so far there isn’t much you can do with gloom outside of destroying its source.

Yeah I know what building is causing it and pillaging is also not really an option when you play as good guys. So I don't think there is a really viable way of stopping it from grwing into your cities other then just going to war and getting rid of it.

Grab about 12-18 units and head in there to the dwelling. My Froglok paladins cleanses this filth in the same manner they did their swamps... I did it semi mid game without too much trouble. The umbral dwellings weren't as heavily guarded compared to cities of another faction.

This is a situation where adaptation will shine. You can clear the Gloom from territories you control with the terraforming spell you get from adaptation, to remove it in the short term, and to clear out stuff that has no specific source.

The main way to permanently remove it, is to destroy the source, which is typically the nest or dwelling it's spreading from. This will clear the gloom instantly, except for the sector that contains the actual gateway, though that can be permanently cleared with terraforming.

Dealing with a nest is a good way to get access to a voidstone resource as well, and a single voidstone is enough to unlock the accessory that gives you umbral immunity in the item forge, so you can hunt down the rest of the umbral sources as needed.

Yeah what others are saying. Best way to mitigate negative City gloom as non-Umbral, even with Striders transform, is to eliminate it at its source (Umbral Infestations and Dwellings).

Even if the source eliminated hazardous territory will remain. I don't understand will be it cleared themself, should I use some terramorphing or there's no way. I really don't like half of the map been contaminated with gloom.

I was pretty sure my Umbral territory was receding on the Map when I cleared an Umbral infestation source (at least local to that infestation) or many of them. The gloom ended up only in the Umbral Gate provinces in many places where I thought it was all over the place beforehand.

It is definitely cleared. I took out like 10-20 dwellings and nests in my last game and every single time it removed all gloom beyond the sector that has the umbral gate itself.

If you get your hands on some Void Stones by expanding a Sanctuary outpost in the Abyss to an area that has some, you unlock the ability to craft trinkets that protect your armies from the Umbral Abyss debuff.

I cleared the infestation built sanctuary, captured 2 sectors and killed everything on the island but the gloom on the surface remains. I see the dwelling on other island but it's not connected and I have no access to it for now. It should not affect.

So it were the dwellings spilling out? I was playing the second story map and there are Umbral gates everywhere, also the two main enemies are Umbra, too. And they hat borders directly to mine. I thought it were their gloom spreading statues that where causing my territories to change. I was not bothering the dwellingsmuch, because I was more occupied steamrolling the enemy capitols. I did not know the dwellings could also spread to the overworld and infect everything.

It's only a 5 alignment hit (assuming it isn't exempted from alignment penalties), but any of the spells that destroy a province upgrade will do it without an alignment hit.
