Bounties are not worth it.
I love this idea of bounties and giving another reason to go to war. But the bounties offered really are never worth going to war over. At best if i am already IN war i might go that way to grab that little bit of loot. I feel like bounties should be increased by a lot.

If anyone plays warhammer 3 then it kind of feels the same way as with ogre contracts, it is literally never worth going to war over them.

Some brilliant ideas by people in this topic.

1. Let us put bounties on infestations and free cities.
2. Let us put bounties on neutrals pillaging my cities. Could be really useful if my armies are on the other side of the map or something, i just put a bounty out and some AI comes taking care of it.
3. Give actually good reward for a city. For example a tier V unit or a single use spell from a tier IV or V book. Or maybe let us offer up to SHARE our tech, to teach a single research spell/summon or whatever as a reward. These kind of things would actually motivate one to declare war and do away with a city.

I wish there was an option to disable them.

I ignore bounties most of the time, unless they point to a city I was already considering attacking.

I place bounties to nudge AIs into prioritising other targets and ignore me, even though we are on the brink of war. Especially deceptive AIs will easily fall for this trick, as backstabbing for money is coded into their behaviour.

Why disable? I mean they are not worth it to go to war over, but if the AI put a bounty on a city i plan to attack anyway i would take it. It simply would be more like free resources and not really going after a bounty.

Because it has never happened in my games yet :)
The notifications waste my time and attention.

I always saw bounties as an incentive to get the AI to attack each other.

Hey we gonna give you 200 mana if you take over this town that is on the other side of the map

Its like the War Spirit quests in AoW2. He demands you to capture or raze a random city and its not a problem, if you are at war with somebody allready or if the city is close to you.

He hands out much better rewards, too, often times gold, units and hero level upgrades, but sometimes also the Summon Black Dragon spell, which was the best unit in the game together with the Gold Dragon. In AoW4 terms it could have been a Herald of War or Karagh.

So....better bring back the Spirits and their shrines(unique passive bonus structure) + rewards, that was way more fun than bounties.

Like nature spirit - raze your own cities and mines. It was madness, but the rewards where sometimes better than those of the other spirits.

Btw

Q: In Age of Wonders 2 there were these 4 shrines for the different spirits (nature, magic, order, war) where you could get quests and nice rewards from time to time. Are they coming back in some form?

A: Age of Wonders 4 features an elaborate narrative event system that confronts your ruler with quests, leadership dilemmas, and boons coming from your empire or the larger world. Some of these events are centered around powerful entities connected to one of the game’s affinities (Nature, Astral, Chaos, Order, Shadow and Materium). Pending the affinities, you pursue they may contact you with quests or boons testing your dedication to your affinity. So a different implementation but a similar concept!

No its nothing like it was in AoW2 not even close, the rewards are lame often times and you do not interact with a great spirit at all. There is no special dedicated important building, either.

Now getting a tier V unit would really motivate me to go F someone up. Or perhaps a single use spellscroll of a spell from a IV or even V tome would motivate me.

Yeah, I've never posted nor accepted a bounty so far. The problem is that they're too small a reward for such high-value targets like another ruler's city. Those are usually not objectives you can just jump at on the fly, and the rewards aren't anywhere nearly worth the costs or risks involved unless the stars align and you happen to be going for that city anyways.

Bounties would be way more valuable if you could ask someone to deal with this infestation or free city that's annoying you but you don't have time to deal with right now.

Yeah bounties have been very underwhelming, although I’ve picked bounties few times just because they aligned with my plans. I guess we can’t even put bounties on rulers we aren’t at war with. However we can put bounty on free city if we at war with them. But AI have never done bounties I’ve been placing anyway.

Yes that is brilliant and also if you have some neutrals pillaging your stuff but your army is on the other side of your empire it would be nice to put a bounty on that ♥♥♥♥ so someone else takes care for it.

They're meant more for us to use on the AI and the AI to use on eachother. People have requested some sort of proper War Coordination system since the game launched, and this is what Triumph has come up with that actually works with the way their AI is designed. Viewed through that lens I think they work fine, and I've actually had great success manipulating the AI into fighting eachother while I go for other victories. It's also a great way to get allies to actually do... well, anything at all, especially if you've got the cash.
its hard to balance thing right away, give it time and enough feedback and maybe it will get better or stay the same who know
