What's it like to play with 2 people? Looking for good story drive rpg for me and wife!

Like title says, looking for fun, story driven rpg for me and my wife. I'm getting tired of most shallow mom's with no real story driven play. So, is this a good game for 2? Or, is it really meant for 1 player?

... it's not rpg, it's 4X strategy (like Civilization series or Endless legend series)
It's totaly NOT story-driven RPG.
Check BG3 for RPG.
Or, better, check out "It takes two".

Try Stranded Deep. It doesn´t have that much story, but you can make up your own!

You allready played it. Its called Final Fantasy XIV. Hard to imagine a game with more story that provides co-op. Try other MMORPGS, maybe?

I for one i am done with MMORPGs, i rather play something ancient like the first Elder Scrolls, Arena. The second one Daggerfall was my favorite, because it was the most creepy one, like a horror movie - it got an unity engine update, but never played Arena. Old rpgs are like good old vine for me. Not even the controls are streamlined and need modding in dosbox. But i guess wifey won't be impressed by old and blurry pixel art. Maybe play ESO?

Looks like Wasteland III is co-op? Pillars and Tyranny? These are kinda story rich games at least, but SP.

I never play co-op outside of MMORPGs, but you can play co-op in AoW4 and create your own story and play the story scenarios. It lacks in my opinion a great flashy campaign with good character development similar to Fire Emblem, FF Tactics, Tactic Ogres and so on same genre, but they got a story and campaign to speak of...well Asians do it best in this regard.

Characters development and Story is their thing and a main part of their games its never optional like in most western tactical games, but its usually SP, only.

Best story driven coop game I played with my wife was Detoit Beyond Human, that game is FIRE, we finished a half assed disaster story then did it all again perfectly. But its not an rpg.

Story driven rpg... For coop...that is Remnant 2 maybe? It has a high skill ceiling but on easy should be enjoyable on any skill level.

If you want sandbox build your own adventure, we played Satisfactory and Conan Exiles. Both where great, but conan exiles is far more beautiful.

But as others mentioned Age of Wonders is a 4x strategy that has little to no story, but a ton of units, spells and abilities to lead your armies and fight. Civilization type game with instanced combat.

I think AOW is pretty bad to play 2 players coop because most of the time you are just doing your own things and she does hers and there's very little interactions until much later in the game. If you want RPG I think Baldur's Gate 3 and their earlier Divinty II are both excellent for coop.
