Seal defence - Elemental Bane

Why in the world do I get hit with the Elemental Bane damage debuff when I am defending the seal rather than the attackers? This seems very contrived and silly. Why would a random marauding guard spawn this type of attack and not experience it themselves? It says that it is originating from the attacking guard. Does this hold true it another Empire leader would attack me while I am defending as well? If so, this seems very anti-player and unfair. I'm not whining per se. I just feel like this mechanic should at least be random.

Don't know if another country attacking you woukd get the seal bonus. For the NPC armies trying to retake the seal, i thought it kinda made sense that the seal tries to help them. Sort of.

Not a fan of the seals. Played it once for the achievement, but i can't see myself playing it again.

Hmmm. I guess I could see that, but like you, this is the last time I will play with it unless it gets a bit of a re-tooling. I enjoy the rest of the game (modded of course) tremendously though =).

The buff has a thematical xonnection to the maraudees who spawn to free the seal. For exsmple one buff spawns a gremlin every other round for demon marauders.

Believe me the one that has 20% chance to inflict insanity every turn is much, much worse.

Ya as I have played a bit more I can see the reason behind the marauders having an advantage. But not a big fan of other Empires getting that same advantage when they try to retake the seal. That should absolutely be random imo.
