How Many Defending Armies Can a City Hold?

Total AoW 4 noob here. Afaik, a maximum of six armies of six units each can participate in a battle--three armies for attackers, three armies for defenders. Also afaik, cities are seven tiles wide and should theoretically fit seven armies inside them. Never tried it against the AI though as I'm still learning the ropes.

So how many defending armies can a single city hold? Also, what happens during a siege with more than three defending armies inside? Do you have to attack the city multiple times, or will one single victory be enough to kill them all?

They have to beat all armies in reinforcement range to occupy the Center tile.

Reinforcement range of cities is 2 tiles around the city, right?
So it would be up to up to 19 armies if my math is correct.
