Any way to change graphics settings outside the game?
When I open it on my laptop i instantly get out of memory crash. I suspect this is because I have everything set to the highest on my pc and it defaults to that, but the game crashed before I can even change any settings. Is there a way to change it?

Change it first on your PC and try again.

With a nvidia GPU you can use geforce experience to change the grafical settings for all your games.
If you have one just open up geforce experience, lmb on the age of wonders 4 picture, and then scroll down until you see the settings screen. On the upper rigth corner is a little wrench where you can then set resolution, performance and other stuff.

If yopu do not have a nvidia gpu you might still have a similiar programm.

Hi purple cat,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble running it on your laptop : (>
A common cause for this is your laptop trying to run this on integrated graphics, instead of on your dedicated gpu.

Lmk if that's not it & I'll check up on your hunch when in the office.

My laptop doesn't have a dedicated gpu but the store page says the minimum requirement is intel iris xe so i should be able to run it on the lowest settings.

I'm having an issue finding the little wrench, can't seem to find it anywhere

If you're running it on a new CPU and have a good amount of ram, you could run it without effects or whatever. I can run it on low settings on an AMD 5900 - i.e. a high end desktop not actually made for gaming - without a graphics card. Disabling other things, I can put texture on high detail on a Ryzen 9 7940HS (the best integrated graphics available). I don't attempt all that other nonsense, but that's just me, I appreciate the game has leader customization but I'm not that big a glutton for eye candy, I read books.

Although I don't THINK more than 16gb ram is much needed, I certainly have more than eight gigabytes - and as a modern operating system alone will run on more than that, you certainly need more than eight, and could certainly expect to run into a memory problem if you don't have enough.

Ram is the cheapest component of your system. If you're from a third world country, you have my sympathy, but you've mentioned none of your hardware, probably because you know very well that you are going to have a problem. For that reason, I am awarding you the clown. Although I do not wish to offend you too much, I wish you a very good day.

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, where is the ini file or whatever? If there isn't one, devs really must add one or provide file editing instructions. Don't be obtuse about it.

Also, this is a necro thread, close the thread, MDW111 can go talk to an NVIDIA forum or something.

The min reqs on the store page says 8gb, are you saying the developers are lying about the specs? This thread was created because my laptop was indeed on the min specs listed on the page but couldn't run the game and after receiving little to no help I just can't be bothered to continue since its not my main gaming platform. I have a pc with 32gb ram, i7 and 4080 that runs it fine on max settings, i just wanted to see if it would also work on my cheap laptop that I got for portable work. The only clown here is you, and maybe that thread necromancer as well.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
