Though, strictly speaking all games are kinda meaningless. Who cares if someone played a lot homm3?
LOL
I'm not going by any logic here. LOL. I've only played planetfall prior to this one, which as far as I'm aware the most recent release before this one in the AOW genre so I'm not commenting on the other games. I'm saying that this game lacks depth. I feel like I've done everything without even reaching 100 hours.
It's still not all that common these days. Mostly I see it in the Vampire Survivors clones, roguelikes, and other stuff like that with procedurally generated content. Which now that I say that out loud... fair. It WOULD be nice to have but I also don't think the game is that much worse for only having the barebones pantheon system we have right now.
I do remember devs mentioning they would work on improving it but they have a lot on their plate.
What does feel mean to you? It's not that I've 100% platinum'd the game in the literal sense. I wouldn't enjoy playing with the other affinities in full as I've already tried them and not liked them whatsoever (so why would I commit to it?), same with realm modifiers and society traits which I had already taken a cursory glance over.
I mean, this isn't actually impossible. The average game will only last 2-3 hours at best. Most people don't sit around for 200 turns milking a scenario out.
All in all your description is 21 games. This means you could have 4,5 hours each and still be at 94.5 hours which is in fact less than 100.
AoW !-3 had more fleshed out campaigns and could easily take a huge chunk out of your time.
After this its usually the point when PvP becomes the main part of the game.
I'd suggest trying it out, you don't have a detailed tactical combat for nothing, its a great pvp game for a TBS.(maybe not - right now - in AoW4, though, but it will improve over time)
If thats not an option for you, just play something else, like for instance AoW3 or a complete different game and return back later when AoW4 has finished its roadmap.
This is what I meant as really quick player.
Multiplayer generally uses turn timers which scale from something like 3 minutes to 7 minutes iirc. But yes, multiplayer players tend to play a lot and therefore have high game knowledge with pre-planned strategies.
The average multiplayer game will last between 4 and 8 hours depending on amount of players. Sometimes they are shorter, sometimes they are longer. This is mostly due to multiplayer simply being slower paced than playing vs the AI.
So you feel like you have seen all content after reading what realm modifiers do... Ok, what do feel about the following game (I tried it):
1) every 10 turns new infestations are created
2) all neutral enemies have +10 HP and extra counterattack
3) all neutral enemies resurrect next turn after death
4) every player can have just 1 city
5) disable all victory conditions so you need to kill every player
6) no free cities
Go play it and then tell me it is similar to your previous games.
Once again I reiterate that I tried them and did not like them whatsoever. What difference does it make if I have to kill every player? Just would prolong the game even after my victory is inevitable. Let alone giving neutral enemies +10HP? Who cares? 10HP doesn't change the game in any meaningful way considering that the biggest threat is other empires.
