Modding Help: Metadata.json Generation
Hey everyone! I hope this is the right place to ask help! I'm obsessed with AoW4, it's been the most fun I've had gaming in a while. I recently began learning how to mod for it and have been following the provided guide from Paradox. I've had difficulties with my self-created mods working, and I did a lot of testing and narrowed it down to them not generating with a 'metadata.json' file when I first create the mod through the package editor. Other mods with this file work for me. Does anyone know how I can generate this file for my own mods? Thank you!

That one has nothing to do with threadstarter's question as the topic is fully unrelated.

Just go for the main menu in the package manager and hit "publish". Unlike it suggests, it does not actually upload your mod anywhere, but prepares your mod for publication aka creates the meta-data file you are looking for.

So when you feel ready to upload your mod, you save your mod, you hit publish, close the package manager and then upload your mod via the Paradox Launcher.

Sometimes the publishing can fail to generate metadata. A supposed fix is to delete the metadata folder and try again, and if that doesn't re-create the metadata folder, then create it manually and try again. I can't vouch for it, though. I've never had a problem publishing personally.

That can indeed happen if the user forgot to give the packager access to the windows controlled folders. It is so~so rare/common and might be addressed by the developers in the future - though modders usually have hardly ever such problems - if then only temporary as those who mod tend to be the same people who deal with such PC issues quick and decisive.

The .metadata file isn't being created when I hit publish. Is there a reason for this?

once I created the folder, and published, the meta data files were automatically created
