insights about arctic adaptation/terraforming?
Just throwing out a couple things I noticed myself when experimenting with arctic adaptation and using the March of Winter from tier 3 shadow tome

- artic adaptation and arctic walk don't stack, unfortunately (having both does not reduce movement cost more than just having one of them does)

- March of Winter actually turns uninhabitable mountains into habitable ones, which is kind of interesting if you ever find one or more of your cities bounded harshly by such mountains you can open it up pretty easily with March of Winter

My initial thoughts about arctic adaptation is that it's similar to underground adaptation in that it starts you in a somewhat safe or perhaps less populated zone (assuming the map allows for arctic zones), but you're above ground so you're generally less cramped than it would be underground. So another way of putting it is if you like the safety of the underground but don't like the cramped-ness of it, then arctic adaptation is a good compromise.

Downside of March of Winter is that if you dont have Arctic adaptability then it pretty much nerfs your food production since you can only build huts of +2 food against +5 food

True but arguably by the time you actually get March of Winter, you will have already built all the farms you need. And even if you were "forced" to build huts, don't forget March of Winter gives you extra food per snow province, so it's not as bad as that. And also don't forget you can always upgrade huts into special province buildings. There are lots of practical ways around that.
