It is working only for local game?
All mods work for multiplayer as well. There is no such mod which "only works for singleplayer" unless specifically designed for that. That has something to do with the architecture of the game.
Just make sure to pick one, and your friend you want to play with picks the same in an identical playset. You might also want to apply this

Which units apart from scouts move fast?
So you suggest to walk only with scouts in your army and the rest should not be used? :D
That being said I have had success using mounted doomstacks of Dark Knights (Dark culture), and also I have had success using mounted doomstacks of Furies (barbarian culture). It feels pretty nice when your stacks are fully mounted and moving at 48 points instead of 32, it feels great.
if you select a body trait which is a mount (of any type) then ALL the mounted units for your faction (civ) will be very fast at 48 MP. if you need more speed than 48 MP per turn then load one of the mods posted above that increase world map speed by 25%, 50%, or 100%

the mounted units in your empire are not just your starting hero/leader, but any other heroes you hire from your faction (civ) and well as the three culture units with mounts -
T2 (Barbarian culture) Fury, T3 (Dark culture) Knight, T3 (Feudal culture)Knight
if you hire or receive a hero from another faction (civ) which has a mount as a body trait then such heroes will also be mounted
