Stability in a Dark empire
I'm playing my first time as a Dark empire, and I'm having catastrophic stability problems. The stability line (Tavern-> Bath, etc) is replaced by a "Torture" rooms line, that all reduce stability further. Is this a bug? Why does the stability boosting structures reduce stability?

i had the same issues going the chaos/dark route. I had to sort of use events to keep things even keel.

Even the provincial special building stuff didn't seem to add to stability.

You don't have to care about stability. There's no economic penalty once you build level 2 of your main building.

that is only part true I believe, you can lose the province completely according to the stuff after level 3 or so. I would slap the overlord building thing on it. According to that you won't lose the city to revolts.

I've completed a couple of games as Dark, I've never ran into any issues and never cared about stability other than I never selected any option that said "Gain -XX stability for Y turns".

exactly so after you have that you no longer have to worry and problem solved. They get much better city bonuses due to it. I wish all factions had an option to opt to the dark affinity stability only

But even if you can prevent them from breaking off due to low stability, you still deal with massive malices to income. Is there really no solution? This literally makes dark factions live life a huge malice to resources...

There is NO penalty to income once you have built the correct building which you can do so in a few turns. Zero!

Town Hall II: Dread Spire
- Negative City Stability states give no economic penalties

Just build the 2nd Town Hall lol

There's also a building that removes the risk of provinces abandoning you due to low city stability. Basically Dark is a culture under an iron fist. The drawback is you will probably not have any positive bonuses, but at least you can expand your cities as much as you want and not worry about being crushed by the instability.

For anyone new to AoW essentially they did the same thing in game three with Necromancers. You don't care about city morale but you basically can't get it either so you miss out of on all the extra cash bonuses.
Tier 2 city removes stability penalties. Then you unlock Overlords Tower once you upgrade your capitol to tier 3 and it removes all cities being able to break away at -100 stability. You only have to soft care about stability until you get your tower then it literally does not matter.

it's not a bug, it's what running things as a death cult looks like.

Now that is just insulting! The inhabitants prefer the term "spiritual commune"! Thank you!

Even if one can ignore the negative effects of negative stability, the boon of keeping it positive is still too significant not trying to boost it.

Do not forget you can compensate some by giving your cities Whispering Stones.
