Are There any old Returning Characters from AoW1, 2, SM & 3?

I honestly need to know, any old returning characters that are present in AoW4? I always enjoyed AoW's for the compelling story & campaigns that made the characters feel real as you come to grow attached to them.

I know that in the Lore, The Commonwealth & Elven Court have now fallen, but I highly doubt "Julia of House Inioch" would be dead. I continued to watch YouTube videos, but people are more interested in just custom races where I am only interested in premade races where the leaders from times before are still seen & have a story to follow.

I guess another question I'm looking for is, does the campaign have these old characters still around?

There are 5 story campaigns they do mention characters from the old games. You don't play as them.

Some characters from the previous games are pre-made rulers you can choose, while some are unlocked in the campaign mission they appear in.

Some have unique cosmetics I think and written background story, but they follow the custom ruler rules.

I recruited Sundren in a RNG map as a hero.

Also I created a character with a pun name in a MP game, and much to my surprise he showed up in a SP game as an opposing wizard (but he isnt in my pantheon....so I still don't really understand how all this works)

most of the wizard from the wizard circle and some from the elven court...havent seen main character like Merlin, Julia and Edward yet...only Meandor and Sundren

I hope in a future DLC they will bring back the old characters with some sort of Story Campaign, it would be nice to see how they are faring in the land of Athla after the release of Magic.

Would be fun if they brought back Shadow Demons and Syrons in Eldritch Realms. I mean sure they could introduce some kind of new Lovecraftian creatures and villains, but the Shadow Demons and the Shadow Realm are kind of eldritch too.

That is some good news, Ham Binger is a sign. Hope he gets a campaign or story realm of his own.
